I know quite a few people who have grown tired of the game already, and I admit I'm struggling with it. Why should I bother walking around for an hour in my lunch break just to get the same old Pidgeys, Rattatas and Drowzees everywhere? I've been to 5 towns in the last week; you'd think travelling would expose you to hoards of new Pokemon, but no.

I've also found the updated 'nearby' feature bears no resemblance to reality. Lots of Pokemon popping up that aren't on my nearby list. The game already feels like it's dying, to be honest.

I like the fact they changed some of the nests, as long as it's something they do regularly to keep it varied rather than just downgrading them once. But I agree, the common pokemon need to be mixed up. If I'm at home and a Rattata, Pidgey or Wheedle shows up I'll probably catch it for the stardust and xp but if I'm out and about I ignore them all. I'm not wasting my data and battery life on those buggers.

Exactly this. I still jump up and down in excitement when I hatch something I haven't seen yet, but I'd like to be rewarded for my walking efforts with the occasional appearance of something that isn't one of the usual suspects.

To make this game even more of a hot mess, people over on reddit are claiming that Pokémon they encounter end up becoming entirely different Pokémon after capture.

For example one guy had photo evidence of capturing a Caterpie with 1212 CP. Obviously this is incredibly high for a Caterpie, but when it registered as "Caught" in his Pokédex it was actually revealed to be a Charizard. And loads of people are experiencing similar things, some as minor as Pidgey -> Seel. Some as heartbreaking as Dragonite -> Dratini. Others as amazing as Rattata -> Jolteon.

So great, now I'm going to be completely paranoid that all the "usual suspects" I normally skip over are actually amazing Pokémon in disguise, just the kind of wildcard this game needed....

What a disaster

I'm now wondering if I experienced this glitch earlier. Luckily my desk at work falls just inside a Pokestop, and there are several lures put down during the day. For about an hour, and I'm not joking, absolutely nothing but Drowzees appeared. I know Drowzees are very common but for them to appear exclusively, non-stop for an hour is pretty unusual?

I've had nothing but Rattatas for some time now. I caught them just in case one of them was an Aerodactyl in disguise, but no such luck.

Can't say I've encountered this glitch. I did catch a bunch of Eggs earlier (Exeggcute?) which was a first for me, and in an area that I'd never seen it before. I did check earlier (on reading about this glitch) that it wasn't actually a Rat, Bird, or Bat, but it is thankfully a bunch of Eggs.

I took over loads of gyms at the weekend so used up a lot of my potions. Went to a lot of poke stops this morning to get more but I only got two and loads of red poke balls. Disappointing.

When you're wiped from battles the best thing to focus on is a level up as you get a lot of potions. Pokestops hand out the basic balls way over anything useful.

Finally evolved Starmie, along with another Seadra, Parasect and Haunter. Seadra knows Blizzard; those double-weak Dragonite cropping up at rival gyms will take 400 damage if I can land the hit. Using the lucky egg it got me a good chunk of the way through level 22. One more lure sesh and I'm done.

I got 6 Magnemites from a lure a few days ago. 6 in a row. I thought it was very strange.

A hosted Pokewalk ....

.....

.....

That is a brilliant idea.
I've been taking the kids I know on walks to town. We go for a 4 miles round trip and it takes about 3 hours. They love it. We're going again tomorrow and I get comments from the parents how grateful they are that there's someone who understands what's going on, is willing to put up with the kids (they're no bother) and that they're buggered come 10:00pm. LOL

I bring my niece's around town now doing it. We'd be lucky to get one mile never mind 4. But they really do love it.

The only thing in your favour is that you get 6 Pokemon to fight with and you will find gyms with crappy Pokemon in them (I like to leave Magicarp in gyms just to troll them)
So YOU'RE the one! LOL. It did make me laugh when there was ONE Magicarp in my local gym!

But today's news: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Was in a cafe and turned on my phone to go home, and saw a Mr Mime on the tracker. I raced outside, and saw it - amazingly lucky - down the street. I was about to click on it and it vanished. Must have reached its despawn time just as I got there...

If I hadn't bothered to stop for that three seconds to take a screenshot I would have battled it

Gutted! I know it might have escaped as all the high level ones seem to avoid capture, but it was still an exciting moment.

I'll probably never see another...

That's such a good idea. We go to Costa and have hot chocolate and they feel like adults (sort of) they're only 12 so it's magical to them - then we sit near the local hotel and the park (two overlapping Pokestops) and put lures on and watch the Pokemon roll in.

And don't forget we start walking at 1:00pm and finish at 4 so it's quite a long time to walk 3 / 4 miles We don't go super fast but it's mostly pedestrian areas here in Scarborough so there aren't too many roads to worry about

So annoying. I saw a Lapras on my way to work this morning, the first one I've seen, and I used up all my ultra balls to catch it. Then walking home I hatched a Lapras that was more than twice as powerful as the one I caught typical.

Hatched a Scyther from a 10km egg today, this being my first new pokemon in about 5 days, one of my top 10 mons of all time AND my first pokemon to be over 1000CP with 1246 CP, I was actually borderline ecstatic, which is something I didn't think id be saying about this game again so soon, but here we are.

Question is how many more Scyther moments can this game provide before the sweet memories fade away like fingerprints on an abandoned handrail.

Experienced my first GPS spoofer yesterday. The 4 gyms visible from our hang out spot all turned blue straight after one another, much quicker than possible if taking them down legitimately. So we decided to go hit them and before we could even put our pokemon in the first gym the leader had dumped down one of his own pokemon again. So we walked to the next spot, and same thing happened. It was nearly midnight, hammering it down with rain and we were in a park with no access for cars and all entrances visible, yet there was nobody in sight. Then 12 hours later that same guy had leveled from 24 to 27.

Im not sure if it's still there since the update but there is/was a feature to report cheaters in the settings menu.

Really hate nob heads like this.
I have a full time job and responsibilities so I can't be on the game 24/7 I am currently level 16 and I am enjoying playing this in my free time casually. People need to get a life.

Reporting is pointless though, none of the guys who are currently level 40 got there playing legitimately yet they've been allowed to bot to max level without being banned and the streaming sites are full of people cheating yet they're allowed to cheat and profit from it.

Niantic aren't going to do anything anytime soon. All they want to do is make the game harder for those that are trying to play the game in its intended manner - actually leaving their houses to try and catch pokemon. There's no way to find anything now as they've removed their own tracking system and are lawyering up hard on anybody that's making their own tracking sites.

Just seen reports that the Articuno/s(?) that was found was genuine it shouldn't have been given but a mistake made it happened.

I think it has been taken back from the account/s now

Yeah the Pokemon swap glitch made what was probably just a standard Pidgey become an Articuno after capture. The question remains though, even if it was taken back, do those people have Articuno registered in their pokedex?

That makes more sense now... There's a level 37 owning the gym here right now.

I have very much enjoyed the game, but I've played it now and like any game, it's pretty much over. I've got 94 Pokemon and any more would be a hideous hideous grind and that's simply no fun.
