POKÉMON GO HAS FIXED ITS TRACKING SYSTEM, THIS IS NOT A DRILL

All in all, very pleased. Genuinely was not expecting this mess to be sorted so soon. Mad props to Niantic over the past few days, they really seem to have pulled their thumbs out.
To be totally honest, I'm still not all that impressed. They could have easily implemented a better system than this. I'll have a proper try of the update later, but I honest don't think it's a move in the right direction. They should have had a system by where Pokémon appeared around a circle, with your direction being at the top, thus you could better walk toward them ... if that makes sense?

There was an example on Facebook the other week, but I can't find it now.

I've seen a couple of versions of that, fingers crossed that will happen at some point as it is a very good idea.

This is coming from what I have seen people in San Francisco already have it and it will be released worldwide soon.

That's a really cool system actually. Shows you the Pokéstop they're closest to without being *too* handholdy and showing you they're exact location.

My only issue with that, is it once again assumes everyone is in a high density area with lots of Pokéstops and "places of interest" around. So as with most things in this game, it gives a leg up to those who lives in the city over those who live in rural countryside with nothing around for miles.

I mean I can't complain because I'm only a few clicks outside London and my home town does have a fair share of Pokéstops, but I know this will frustrate a fair few people out there. Hopefully they've implemented something for those stuck 20 miles outside any other form of civilization.

From what I have seen online they say it's within 200 Meters in any direction.

Got a Snorlax yesterday only 310 CP though but better than nothing and ar least I have one now.

This latest update is probably the worst yet.

Having just long grass is completely useless if you only have 3 Pokemon showing up in Sightings at once.

The pop up for when you're in a vehicle is really annoying.

Pokemon are still hard to catch.

And to top it off, I think my distance tracker for eggs is broken. Me and the bf went walking yesterday. I was 2.1km away from hatching two eggs, and he was 2.9km away. We walked the same distance and his egg hatched before mine. The only difference being that I had updated and he hadn't.

I'm not sure its the app, the connection to GPS matters too.

The Sighting actually fixes a lot of issues the previous near by tracker had. Basically, the old nearby would scan a radius of 1km around you (because of a bug with the system that wasn't intended), but now it scans 200m around you, so any Pokémon that does show in that little area should be encounter-able without too much effort. Plus even though you have 3 Pokémon showing up in your Sightings, there may be multiple of those respective Pokémon in your vicinity, the Sightings just groups them all together under one symbol.

As for the hatching glitch, that sounds like a GPS/signal problem rather than a problem with the app, as the fella above said.

Much prefer the new tracking, there's generally only 2 or 3 things on my sightings but atleast you know they're close. Before the only way to tell what was near you was to reboot the game every minute to get an accurate list.

Managed to catch a bulbasaur, 2 squirtles and a snorlax yesterday. Added to the Vileplume I caught the night before. Can't wait until they roll out the next update so we have a better way of finding out where things actually are, I wouldn't have found the Snorlax if I didn't have a tracking site handy. With any luck they'll have a system that tells you the exact meterage or atleast which direction you need to go in.

Is anyone finding what comes out the eggs has a relationship with where you hatch them? Particularly 2km eggs? If I hatch them in normal suburbia I almost always get very common normal types, like Spearows and Rattatas. But if I hatch them near rivers/grassland/monuments I tend to get more interesting types like Squirtles etc.

My other half hatched a Pikachu from a 2km egg while at home after she walked upstairs, usually all we get is rattas and pidgeys.

It's been discovered through the games code that eggs are pre-decided the moment you get them off a Pokéstop. So in terms of the actual coding of the game, at that point you've already got this new Pokémon, but there's a line of code that means you have to walk however long the egg distance is before you officially unlock it.

Fair enough, just a weird co-incidence then

Ooh out of nowhere a Vaporeon has just appeared, certainly makes a welcome change to rattas and pidgeys.

It's a low spec bargain phone, if you want Pokemon then your gonna need a higher spec android I'm afraid.

I've noticed today that since the recent updates that your character no longer moves when you enter shops so can't add to hatching your eggs while walking around Tesco doing the shopping.

Yeah what GONZO said, unfortunately S3 and relatively older phones of the same ilk can't run certain games and apps like this that demand quite a lot from the system.

If you do happen to decide to get a relatively low cost upgrade, you can currently get the Samsung Galaxy S5 (which is what I have and play Pokémon Go on) for quite cheap in comparison to other high-tier phones.

You could try and run it. Just download the APK file and install and see how it runs.

They've definitely made a lot of changes to the distance calculation. I register far less distance than before the update. I also got a message while out walking today that I was going too fast.
