Update is now being rolled out. It seems the initial data was wrong, its taking 1,3 or 5 km to get a candy by buddying. Seems fair, especially for some of the big pokemon it would have been too easy. Its basically a top up for getting those pokemon you want evolution yet the randomness of eggs makes it hard

Better go and get my walking shoes out as its going to take a lot of walking to get enough candies to evolve my Dragonair and Charmeleon that currently have 8 candies each and I've not seen a Dratini or Charmander to catch for about 4 weeks

Its good they are rolling this out as the game is becoming a bit stale at the moment - I have 130 pokemon in my Pokedex and I would say another 4 or 5 that I am only a few wild catches or an egg away from evolving so it'll be a good way to top up the candies for the ones I am struggling to find and give me another reason to go out and about to try and catch the ones I am missing as I was getting bored of catching Pidgeys and Ratattas all the time.

Sooner or later they will add Gen 2 so 100 more to get.

Rumours are they will add a new Gen about every 6 months so Gen 2 should be around late Nov to early Dec.

Didnt someone find evidence on Umbreon and Espeon in the game? (The gen 2 Eevee evolutions)

I think they will get the core mechanics right, such as I suspect they will fix the original Pokemon distance thing and then move on to later evolutions, and maybe do something with gyms

Gen 2 and beyond is a fair jump, simply as they would have to address more than just new ones appearing, you'd have to balance the whole game, from space in your inventory to Pokemon appearances. Also they are still rolling out Gen 1 internationally so 6 months is fair, but I Nov/Dec feels quite early for me

Yer I haven't got the update yet. Still plugging away with it, having a decent walk to work everyday through my town centre helps.

Still enjoying it, but it has become a bit of a grind

If they did it every 6 months or so and as you say it could be longer it will take 3 Years to add all the Gens.

That is kinda a good idea as it will keep a lot of fans coming back for 3 Years.

If they take longer maybe they could stretch it out to 4 Years.

And that is not inc any new Gens that may be added in that time.

Finally got Gyarados! Been saving that 161 Magikarp just for this occasion. It's 1721.

Ooh I'm sure this may upset quite a few, latest iOS update will not run on jailbroken devices.

The new update is now available, contains the Buddy System, walked 3km with my boy Cubone and finally got the final candy I needed to get a Marowak!!

Also lures now show which user specifically activated the lure, and I think there may be a few changes to battling, for instance Blizzard now has next-to-no delay in attacking where as before there'd be a bit of lag when using it, making it more of a hinderance than a help.

Although as above, you will *not* be able to get this update if your phone is either jailbroken or rooted and essentially you could see yourself being phased out of the game entirely unless Niantic does a 180 on this new policy of theirs.

And? The stats for retaining players are fantastic compared to other mobile games. The average mobile app developer would love the rate of retaining players Pokemon Go has had

It was always going to happen inevitably, and I'd say given the immense amount of bugs the game had, it's a miracle the hype lasted so long.

I imagine the game will see multiple resurgences in popularity, one for every generation of Pokemon released, one for the release of trading, and one for the release of trainer battling.

Basically, it's not over yet.

Shock horror. As I said, the retention rates are fantastic for a mobile game

I thought about doing this but f*ck walking 300+ km

Gonna get through the ones I'm only a few candy off evolving before hitting the starters and then Magikarp.

Cubone, Pikachu, Nidorino, Vulpix, Jigglypuff, Rhyhorn and Machop are up first, only need 1-6 candy for each.

I've got magikarp as my buddy, got x2 candy so far today which takes me up to 192.
And within 10 mins of each other I caught x2 Pikachu when I'm supposed to be working 😂
