Pokemon Go is crap and you should play Sun and Moon instead, No wasting time looking for stupid poke stops in Moon and Sun. Just a fun game.

No tedious unskippable cut scenes in Pokémon Go either.

I mean look I like Pokémon Sun but jesus the cutscenes and the hand holding made it a borderline chore.

Anyway, they're totally different gameplay mechanics. So your comment and my reply to your comment are both irrelevant.

Gen 2 confirmed for Pokémon Go!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9ctBliiq1A

As the video states, Togepi, Pichu and more are available FROM TODAY.

Off the video alone I'm not sure if theyre saying its just the Gen 2 babies right now and then the rest of Gen 2 comes later, but either way, I'm glad we have new Pokémon out there.

As the saying goes 'different strokes for different folks'
I rather enjoy looking for stupid pokestops and interacting with other people when a crowd starts to appear because a lure has been placed.
I have zero interest in Pokemon Sun or Moon.

I think it's just the babies from eggs.

But all the info is already in the game code for Gen 2 so all they have to do is switch them on.

As all the Pokemon are saved to the servers rather than the game to it won't even need a update.

I wonder what the egg distance will be?

When Baby Pokemon were first rumoured I heard they will be 1K (As Pikachu is 2K it's a bit silly to make it's lesser form Pichu 2K or more)

Well the trailer specifically showed the yellow egg, so I guess 5K? But that doesn't make sense because as you say it's silly to have Pikachu in 2K and Pichu in 5K... unless now Pikachu, Electabuzz, Magmar, Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee, Jynx, Clefairy, Jigglypuff and Chansey are no longer available via egg...

Seems babies are from 2K Eggs as someone has already hatched one.

Yep, same here! Very happy as I had a wild pikachu run from me yesterday too. Also hatched a 2km egg and got Igglybuff, so my pokedex now runs to 174. Overall a good Pokémon Go day, as I finally evolved my Wartortle into a Blastoise. Only had to walk 154km for enough candy.

Oh and baby evolutions now appear on the pokedex - if you check out Pikachu, for example, Pichu appears on the evolution chain.

So hopefully Christmas Pikachu will be more common than normal Pikachu as even though I've played the game since the first week it came out the best I have done is saw one on sightings when I was on a bus.

There's a new achievement, counting how many Pikachus you've caught, so I hope they become more common!

Wait hold up... 174??

So there are 24 new Pokémon?

That's interesting, so there's more than just the baby Pokémon and Togetic + Hitmontop then.

I assume 174 is its pokedex number - it doesn't mean all of the stuff in between is available yet? I'm not really up on my pokedex numbers after 151!

Well there's 151 in Gen 1 of course, but then there's another 100 in Gen 2, so it should be at 251 rather than 174, which seems a very random number for the new Pokédex to have if we're only getting the babies (and 2 of the baby evolves) when really that should bring us up to around 161.

It's working the same way the pokedex has since the start. There might be 151 in gen 1, but my guess is your pokedex only shows up to 149 (Dragonite) because you haven't seen anything higher yet. But your pokedex will still run from 1 - 149 despite the legendary Pokemon not being available yet. So it's the same.

Because I haven't met, seen or hatched a Pokemon higher than #174, my pokedex runs from 1 - 174, and doesn't mean there's 174 in the game for me to get - I can see 150 and 151 which we know are Mewtwo and Mew, but they aren't available yet.

Does anyone know if it has to be new eggs that hatch into these new Pokemon or is it possible from an egg I've had for a while?

I don't recall asking for a Victor Meldrew like opinion.

New eggs.

Eggs are determined the moment you get them.

Does the Gen 2 news lead any credence to the speculation/rumours when Pokemon Go first came out that new Gens will be added every 6 months?

Even at that rate it will take about 4 years to get to the point where the other games are and by then at least 1 more game and Gen should be out.
