None because it's cobblers.
My uncle still has duck hunting and space invaders on an Acetronic. Innocent but fun, WTF is a 'Pokeman' anyway? |

I got it on Tuesday night. I wanted to wait until it came out officially in the UK, but gave in. Before I got it I said to my older brother that I wanted it. He's not a geek, at all. Doesn't tend to like geeky things. I've never really been into Pokémon, either, played some games, but I'm pretty much a casual, but been waiting for Pokémon Go for ages. On Saturday while lining up to get in at RIAT I said "there could be a Pokémon here" and he gave a less-than-appreciative answer.
On Tuesday, I got it. On the way home in his car I got my first Pokémon, Squirtle. Then when he dropped me off and came in I could see it in his eyes, his interest growing. I said "remember when you kept mocking Minecraft when William (youngest brother) liked it? Then you fell for it? Well...it's going to happen again", and soon later I sent him the link to the APK. ![]() Then the following day I did it for my brother-in-law, who is also not into geeky things. He asked me to do it for him in a "oh go on then" kinda way, because his mates kept telling him about it. Like he's too cool, just did it because of his mates. I haven't spoken to him since but I can guarantee he's been loving it.

Pretty much never. Peer pressure and following the herd are a terrible weak minded way to coast through life IMHO.
It's getting kids out, they were charging all over the place - how can THAT NOT be fun? Taking a whole load of 'em into town next week for a afternoon's Pokehunting. |

There was a Pokestop just up the road, and another Pokestop a little further, and another etc. Until I stumbled on another gym guarded by a 250CP Pokemon. I took him out and took control of the gym. Left my 80CP Nidoran there to guard it (all my stronger ones were dead from the Flareon). Continued walking in circles around town collecting stuff from Pokestops. Found another gym with a 600ish CP Pokemon guarding it. Decided not to battle as I'll come back another day with alive Pokemon. Battery getting low at this point so decided to head home. Picked up about 20 Pokemon along the journey.
What an awesome game !

Considering you can be within 20 feet, maybe even more considering I caught a pokemon who was about 50 feet away from me a few times, I don't believe you.
In fact, anyone who says they had to go somewhere strange, under something, into something, are full of shit. So it's possible people have to do do a bit of maneuvering. |

I just caught a minitodgerwilliwonkertamilamotownchin . It wasn't pretty , but it had a flap like a jumbos undercarriage . I'm waiting for a spankingooliemangechow to fly back out from under the bed so I can knock hell out of it with my last twenty curve balls.

I also have an app that gets me out and about. It's called Runkeeper. To occupy myself, iPlayer Radio.
Going back to the OP, I've caught 0 as the app is incompatible with my device. |

Yeah I was stuck in hospital for the last 3 days so had to rely on nothing but incense to get most of my beginning Pokemon, it should usually net you 4-6 Pokemon per use even if you're staying completely still and not near any spawn points and Pokéstops.

I've already caught them all!
![]() No, but in all seriousness, adults playing this, one of thousands of games already played by adults everyday, is no reason to sneer and belittle. Almost any hobby you care to name could be sneered at and belittled in exactly the same way. Does it make the attacker correct? No, it just makes them look a miserable sod. |

That's not fair AT ALL. There was a Pokemon at the bottom of my street in someone's garden which was behind their house. So I didn't bother with it, but it was there...

I have none at all, as I am a grown up and do not see the attraction of charging around like an 8 year-old after cartoon characters. I'm rather averse to making a fool of myself.

Or it could just be genuinely loads of fun. I went on a hosted Pokewalk with some of the kids from my street last night while all the parents chatted about it all. Was loads of fun and the kids loved being in the park at 11:00pm (when they'd never seen it dark before).
It's getting kids out, they were charging all over the place - how can THAT NOT be fun? Taking a whole load of 'em into town next week for a afternoon's Pokehunting. ..... ..... That is a brilliant idea. |

tbh I have found the average age to be about 21, it is mostly students who were into it when they were kids and they all have the tech, contracts and free time to do it.
He actually spotted a lure at a local pokestop last night and drove down there. He said when he got there, there were two lads in their early twenties sat outside the pokestop in their car on their phones and then two more cars turned up and just sat outside. This was a closed communit centre at 10pm. No kids around, just adults playing Pokemon! 😂 |

There's nothing wrong with playing PC / Xbox games or even apps and puzzles, I just think it's a bit weird for adults to play cartoon games like Pokemon and for it to be a big craze all of a sudden where everyone must go mad for it.

Not playing a game is one thing, being a self-satisfied cock about it is quite another.

I've got 3. I'm a woman in my 40s and anybody who says I'm immature. Go to hell. I am actually downloading it as research because I want to cover it for a radio show I am involved in, with community radio. In actual fact I shall carry on playing this, as and when I can.
The attraction is that although it is some 'game' it is demonstrating where technology is heading, with augmented reality. I love watching the interaction of the 'real' world with the 'game' world. I also want to do a quiet bit of research on people's reactions when they see others or myself play the game. This is a 'breakthrough' game, as it's the first one that I've seen that is this popular and does use augmented reality. In the future, there will be a lot of games coming out better than this one, that will use the same principles. The "I'm too mature to play this game" brigade need to understand there are wider aspects to this. Also as for the teacher playing. That's actually a good thing because he then understands what's motivating the kids and can perhaps use that to engage them in lessons. And for the person who said that hobbies can be sneered at. Too true. I used to knit, and somebody sneered at me for THAT. If people are playing this game and it doesn't affect you, keep your nose out. I am middle-aged, mature, intelligent, well educated and I still enjoy games. I won't put my life on hold for it or go out of my way to play it but it beats being bored if out and about. However I am also considering the downsides, for example people wandering around parks looking like they're filming kids, possibly not paying attention to their surroundings, the company who produced the game having access to your personal information, that sort of thing. |
