EE: Linda/Sonia "excuse" for moving away
for their maternity leave - any suggestions ?
Sonja: fallen in love with Martin all over again - so moves away so as not to perhaps ruin his marriage with Stacey Linda: haven't a clue - at the moment - other than her finding out Dean is the father of Ollie. |

How far along is Linda (irl I mean)? It wasn't that long ago that people were commenting on her looking "bigger" and being told they were rude for saying so, but I guess a baby would explain the bump.

Linda can take care of Elaine's pub while has a hip replacement,
Sonia could get a job for a year working in a German hospital so that she can be close to her mother. |

Linda/Kellie - due November – so depending on the size of her bump etc. – she could just about make it to Xmas at the Vic (being filmed in Oct) Sonia/Natalie – probably due any time now – i.e. last episodes with her probably start August. |

who was it now
who was pregnant 4-5-6 years ago - we all knew she was pregnant - and in the later episodes we only saw her face / chest - or from the back - although I do remember a few mistakes where we saw some of the bump
the only one I can think of is Tanya - but don't think it was her |

replace Sonia with a plank of wood in a dress and no one will notice.
I'm just glad there will be one less Carter one screen. And they will just send her to ELaine's for a while. |

To be honest I'm so sick of EE characters leaving under a big cliffhanger/mystery/revelation and then returning in a blaze of glory months later. It would be great if they could just take a break from Walford for simple, believable reasons (like Linda going to run Elaine's pub).

The problem with Linda just going to run Elaine's pub is that nothing remotely interesting will be able to happen with the Carters while she's gone as it wouldn't be believable that she wouldn't simply pop home if her family needed her. The Carters are a tight knit family, they talk to each other about their problems, and Linda is a mother hen. So it would seriously limit storyline opportunities for the family if she was nearby but never around.
My preferred method for writing her out would be her suffering a breakdown as a result of undiagnosed post-traumatic stress from the rape and anxiety about Ollie. The family, including Linda, realise she needs help and checks her into a health facility. It would give closure to her after the rape storyline (something she never really got) and would allow the viewers to see a family dynamic where they have to cope without her for a period of time. |

Sonia could go to stay with Bianca who's having a crisis if some kind, like needing help matching her outfits.

I think Sonia has already foreshadowed how she may be written out. When she was talking about surgery a few weeks ago, she said it would take 9 months to recover "the same time as having a baby" so I would assume she will go for surgery, and then stay with Bianca or Carol whilst she recovers

Sonia can move away because she realises that she's a horrible person and has burdened the community for long enough.

I swear Sonia must be the most hated character among the EastEnders fanbase. I wish she and her pathetic attempts of trying to act would just bugger off for good.

Has it actually been confirmed that Kellie Bright will actually take an extended break or is it just speculation because it was revealed she was pregnant?
If it's the latter, potentially she might not be gone for very long at all and will work up a few weeks before her due date (particularly as leaving any earlier will mean she's absent at Christmas) and return shortly after. It's possible that they could film a bunch of scenes that can be cut into certain episodes to show she's still around but just not playing a major role in any storylines, also minimising the amount of time she's actually absent completely. Being in the Vic (and having a young child that has to be held) means covering her pregnancy is pretty straight forward. |

Sonia will leave Walford to take trumpet lessons, leaving her free to rob charity money someplace else

I cant help but wonder if she is going to come back, she had alot of time off for Strictly, now she is having a kid, she would not be the first actor to either not return or make a brief return and then quit (Tanya Branning being one example), meanwhile Mick interacts with other characters more and more, and suddenly the show stops missing her.
Sonia has been a bit in and out over the years as well. |
