9200 data recovery
Hi.
Yes I know I know, it is an old box... but it has served me very well for a long time now despite the slowing down, EPG not populating fully, crashes etc etc. I still use it for daily recordings along with a 9150. I have stupidly formatted the 9200 by mistake (I thought I was looking at the 9150). Never made that mistake before! I have used humaxrw for years to copy things from the drive but never had a need to dabble with humaxcheck or other tools. Does anyone know a way to recover the .ts files to the pc with the record list now wiped? I have imaged the drive as a backup (a complete RAW .IMG of the disk using UFS Explorer) and then tried using UFS Explorer to search for any file types it can find hoping it would find the video files... no luck. I know an individual recording will probably be split into chunks across the drive due to fragmentation but I was hoping that it wouldn't be too severe. Can humaxcheck rebuild the record list successfully? I have tried using it to fix the directory and fat etc but nothing has worked yet. If humaxcheck can't rebuild things is there a tool out there that will scan an image file for .ts chunks and extract them? Thanks. |

Or... can I extract the .EPG file information still so I can at least try and work out what I lost so I can find it elsewhere (I had some films I'd like to watch for example.)?
I tried a text search in a hex editor for strings of programmes I know are on there but it found nothing. I have assumed that the programme information would be stored using normal ASCII text with no gaps between letters so should be searchable. If I had recorded some Formula One coverage for example there would be "Formula" somewhere in readable text on the disc and not something like "F..o..r.. m.. u.. l.. a..". The format routine obviously doesn't wipe the disc as it is much too quick and I would guess it just deletes the file entries so the .TS files should still be there but just the programme information text would be enough. Thanks. |

The EPG might be encoded in UTF16 in which case you could try searching for F@o@r@m@u@l@a where @ is your hex editor's version of a zero byte.
If you have not already try asking on hummy.tv or myhumax.org. -- Pete Forman https://payg-petef.rhcloud.com/ |
