Does anyone know if SSM actually showed the Germany-Czech Republic match? I was intending to watch the fixture but on Saturday evening at about 19.00 I checked the EPG and noted that Sky Sports Classics had replaced the entire schedule. The game also wasn't listed on the interactive options on SS2.

This made me suspect the game had been cancelled and what with world events and especially the climate in Germany currently that potentially made sense. Checking news coverage at the time I couldn't see anything and I checked this morning to find out the match had been played after all.

All very odd - does anyone know why Sky pulled the coverage of the match entirely?
The game was on SSM live (as well as the red button Match Choice multiscreen interactive along with goal alerts) as scheduled. It was just an EPG glitch.

Red Zone continues on Sky Sports Mix after initially being just for the first 4 weeks.

Now listed for weeks 5 & 6, 9th Oct and 16th Oct according to the Virgin Media TV guide.

mlt11 can you see it listed for 23rd?
Red Zone currently not listed for SSM on 23rd Oct (currently various non-live content is listed).

However that could change - it wasn't originally listed for 9th and 16th Oct.

Thanks, that makes sense. I think they must have had some issues all over as I wanted to also record Poland-Denmark and ended up with Slovenia-Slovakia instead! That was fine what with my niche interest and all!

I didn’t even know Sky had the rights to Euroleague Basketball, I thought Eurosport had the rights.

Nah, it was BT, although they only ever showed one match per week so we're never fussed about it. Eurosport show/showed the secondary competition, the Euro Cup I think it's called.

Ah, thanks, I knew it was new to Sky, just couldn’t remember where it had come from!
It’s just a shame there are no British teams at the standard required to be a serious competitor in the competition.
Oh well, the British Basketball League comes to the BBC Red Button/BBC Sport App from November or December.

I was quite looking forward to the launch of this channel, as a non-sports Sky subscriber.
Must say I am disappointed overall with most sports being more akin to being shown on Eurosport........basketball, foreign football etc etc. This should be Sky's opportunity to use the channel to entice more people to subscribe to the full sports package but showing them what they are missing, but they won't do that with this selection.
No EPL or EFL matches to date.
Limited rugby (union or league).
Poor show.
The intention or purpose of the channel may not be to entice people to subscribe to sports and that's just as well with the quality of what they decide to show. I know they are not going to put the best of the best of this channel (eg Man U v Man City) but they can do better than the current output that's for sure.

I know that. But if you read what I said, they will need to up their game if they want to "tease" more people to subscribe to sports.

And hardly the most exciting football match either to show.

Do you really honestly think they are going to be showing a top 6 team against a top 6 team for free?

I
No EPL or EFL matches to date.
Limited rugby (union or league).
2 EFL matches so far, one in August, one in September and another is scheduled for Friday night. Seems to be one a month in line with the speculated 10 per season as per the surveys sent out a couple of years back (which also suggested 5 to 10 EPL games).

I think your expectations may have been a little high. It's more or less in line with what I expected although with considerably more exclusive content than I thought.

Surely if it was too good then a lot of people would not subscribe to the full package. I remember seeing a PL ratings survey which suggested a large percentage subscribe to Sky Sport usually watch one match per weekend for most rounds. I guess SKY don't want people to get in a habit of thinking there will be an EPL or EFL game on Mix every weekend.

Personally as a supplement to my BT Sports package (I have Virgin Media XL) , MIx is a nice little addition but on it's own it would definitely not be enough.

As far as being a tease I would say it does the job. After watching the England one day cricket recently I have to say I was keen to see more.

As a non-subscriber to sports I have found it to be quite good. It was always going to be mid-card content. Not sure what you were expecting?

Just don't invite all your mates around and order the beer n pizzas based on it, cause they have a habit of last minute schedule changes!

Non-sports subscribers have been subsidising the Sky sports channels output without receiving any benefit, so now they do and from a Sky point of view it counters the BT Sports channels that BT tag on to their broadband.

Cancel the sports then and tune in for the Premier League in 31 days time

Soccer Saturday is on Sky Sports and Sky 1 every week. Why are you only complaining now?
