I thought you already had it confirmed via the Now TV live chat that it would be, or did you make that up?
I will check when I get home today

The answer is no :-

"At the moment there are no plans for NOW TV to carry Sky Sports Mix.

However if the plans change we will announce this as we do with anything new"

Yep, spot on mate, this is a pure bait FTA channel by Sky, just like when they show the odd NFL game on Sky Two or Pick.
.
That's always been the stated intention of the channel

Point of fact, though. It will not be FTA

You're the one who told us it was!

That's harsh; ftakeith would never, ever post his own off the wall speculation as if it was fact.

On another note, there are still people in Ireland waiting for FTA coverage of the Premier League to appear on terrestrial TV there.

Sorry think I am going blind. Where does it state in there that it will be included on NowTV.
Are you talking about the bit that says it will be available to the same people as Sky Sports News HQ...

Oftentimes a quick glance at the name of the poster helps

Now TV is part of the Sky Tagged Sections on this press release
Might you have explained that as your logic for linking to an article that doesn't tell anyone anything new, but most especially in the context of Now TV?

On the subject: As is about to become obvious I have never used Now TV.

But from what I understand of it surely there is no point in having SS Mix on Now TV?

Am I wrong in saying that passes are bought for the Sky Packages - ie Sports, Cinema, so anyone buying a pass for Sports will be getting the content on the "proper" Sky Sports channel anyway?

I think the question is will the Mix channel be apart of the NowTV entertainment bundle as this is that platforms version of the original bundle on the Sky satellite platform of which SS Mix will be apart of.

When Sky issued the News release concerning Sky Sports Mix on 18 March 2016, they tagged it on the Sky Corporate website as relating to "Sky Sports", "Corporate","SkyQ","Products","On Demand", "Sky Go", "Sky Broadband" & "NOW TV".

You can scroll down to it, here, as "Now TV"- filtered news:
https://corporate.sky.com/media-cent...40b9157ddc1e4b

Thus, you can make a case, that whilst not specifically mentioning Now TV in the text of the News release, that Sky generated an impression that Sky Sports Mix was to be available on Now TV.

Sky Sports News HQ, which is mentioned in the Press Release, is available to active Cinema, Entertainment, Kids or Sports Month Pass subscribers on Now TV, and for 30 days when buying a Sky Sports Day or Week Pass. So, it's already established that all Now TV customers are offerred a bit of sport at no additional cost. I suspect a few would like a little more!

Only available if watching via a NowTv branded box. Is a separate app to NowTV but when you launch the app it checks you have a valid NowTV pass (any type) and if so let's you view.

Is NOT included with NON Sports passes via other routes like phone or tablet NowTV apps or if casting to Google Chromecast.

I thought Sky Sports Mix would be in the general Entertainment section to hook on non-Sky Sports viewers, so why on earth is it in the Sports section?

Because it's a sports channel.

Yes, fair comment malcy30, that Sky Sports News HQ is only offered with non-sports passes via a Now TV Box.

The point I was making is that it wouldn't be extraordinary for a non-sports customer of Now TV to think that they might get Sky Sports Mix, as they are already offered a bit of sport at no additional cost; albeit only via the separate Sports News HQ app on a Now TV Box.

All of this was said in the context of the News Release about Sky Sports Mix, which was (possibly mistakenly) tagged "Now TV" when it was released.

So that people searching the EPG for Sky Sports Mix notice what they're missing on all the other Sky Sports channels; get frustrated by blue screens; and press the red button to subscribe?

As Mark. says. Because if it were not in the sports section then Sky would be in breach of their own EPG placement guidelines, and by extension in breach of Ofcom's code on EPGs.

I hadn't thought of the regulatory aspect, but in any event, I think that they'd have wanted Sky Sports Mix in the sports section of the EPG for promotional reasons.

Without appreciating the regulations, I'd have thought after sky atlantic would have been preferred if possible

Another aspect is that Sky Sports Mix is similar to Sky Sports News in being available to non-sports subscribers.

So it makes sense for Sky Sports Mix to be next to Sky Sports News on the EPG – as the sort of people likely to watch Sky Sports Mix are also likely to watch Sky Sports News – at least to some degree.

I doubt there would be many people who would watch Sky Sports Mix but who would never watch Sky Sports News.

In Italy, their version of Sky Sports Mix is on EPG 106 (Sport starts in the 200s)

Don't really see the point in this channel. Sky sports subscribers are losing out as FTA viewers are watching some for free now

Fact is if you have sky and you like sport.. You'll have sky sports

I think the select few who watch sky sports mix will be few and far between

I loved sport growing up and could watch most of the main events on FTA and followed most of the home England tests until 11 years ago but didn't have to have Sky or Sky Sports.

Fact is FTA viewers have been losing out to Sky and recently BT for the last couple of decades.

Anyway Sky Sports MIx is not FTA, it's a a basic subscription channel like Eurosport.

How are they losing out?

Either the full Sky Sports package will still have significantly more sport than offered on SSMix and so will still justify the cost to them as it did before.

Or SSMix will have enough live sport of interest to them that they can drop the full Sky Sports package and save a lot of money.

And non-subscribers were already watching some sport for free as Sky have been simulcast events on Sky 1, Sky 2, and Pick.

Are non-Sports subscribers getting on screen promotions for SS Mix?

I'm a Sports/Cinema subscriber and since AdSmart started I never get upgrade promos, so I assume that's why I'm seeing nothing for the new channel.
