I doubt Sky will ever go down the route of a FTA sports channel like BT- they are far too far down the line for that now.

I think Sky if they want the Champions League will have to work with a terrestrial partner- both to satisfy UEFA and their balance sheet.

No more Sky Sport until 10th Sep 2016 for me, next live MUFC game live on Sky Sport

I will have to suffer now for not having SSMix and missing out on niche niche sport

Sky still could do an exclusive bid for CL & EL using SSMix which has 10millon subs plus all (how ever many ppls) get it on virgin media
And BT sport showed CL & EL finals were both available on YouTube
And Sky could always use Pick tv channel for free to air commitment if They wanted to

I'd be amazed if ssmix is a hit. Most people don't seem to know about it. Will be interesting to see how heavily and how long they market it for but it i'm expecting fewer than 100k watching

If Sky want exclusivity then they are going to have to pay more than BT last time for that privilege and I don't see where that money comes from in today's climate.

A combination of a ITV showing one live game a week and either Sky or BT showing the rest seems the likeliest outcome.

Sky Sports Mix is just a channel to try and get existing consumers to upgrade to Sky Sports/a week pass to Now TV.

How successful it is will be really depends on Sky's strategy for it. I can understand Sky not showing a particular sport in a regular slot on the channel, as it is a 'mix' channel, but where it will lose viewer interest is if it picks up a particular tennis tournament, say, shows a few days of that tournament but then opts not to show the final. Similarly, this could happen by not showing the final Sunday of a golf tournament that's on mix.

What will the point of this channel be. Do we really need Another repeat station. SS5 normaly relay what's on other channels the cricket will be on Mix as well as normal sky sports channel so what really is the point. The only thing I think that should go on Mix is all these pixy sport documentarys take them off SS and put that rubbish on the mix channel.

In same way they always get there money from by putting subs up like they have every year since they started
I know ppls will say it's getting to much to pay but we all end up paying and so sky's cash cow keeps on going

It will be available to all Sky TV subscribers- thus will add value to non-sports packages.
Sky will use it to promote/encourage subscribers to upgrade to a full Sky Sports subscription.

mlt11 made a very good point earlier in the thread about the channel's EPG positioning on Sky- next to Sky Sports News HQ.

Sky Sports News HQ is part of the Original Bundle; thus available to all Sky TV subscribers (i.e. including non-sports subscribers); and is popular amongst a wider base than Sky Sports subscribers. Sky Sports Mix should benefit from its positioning on the EPG, and no doubt, promotion on Sky Sports News HQ.

In that article it is claimed that Sky Sports News has a reach of 17 million. Surely not that many people subscribe to Sky?

The sentence starts by referring to "Sky TV homes"; then describes Sky Sports News HQ as being "a channel with an annual reach of 17m viewers".

They may have included reach via other platforms in the figure for Sky Sports News HQ?

He must though. He does "communication" for a living.

(Seriously though, based on what I've quoted has anybody ever been less suited to their job description )

SSMix is a waste of time

It will be part of the main Sky Sport's package in the future when many people watch it

The same SSM channel you was practically creaming yourself over a few weeks back when you 'was told' it would be on NowTV and it in fact isn't?!
Please................

You really, really struggle with the communication aspect don't you. This act of quoting a post and then making it totally irrelevant to your reply just pi**es everyone off even more - but although I used to give you the benefit of any doubt on that I'm now 100% sure that's why you do it.

As for this latest statement of fact which is pure guesswork, Sky Sports Mix will be available to all subscribers so, it will be part of the Sky Sports Bundle from the off.

I'm guessing you're guessing it'll eventually be restricted to the Sports Bundle though, so your strange suggestion that more people would watch a channel if it was available to less subscribers is so ridiculous that surely even you can see that
