I've seen worse tournaments than this. It's had it's moments.

He said this game sums up the whole tournament
I agree. Heard many "experts" and yet to hear one say "classic" "great" or anything even approaching praise for the tournament....

France are the fairly average host nation who stumbled their way to the final....this is not even a vintage Portugal team
Portugal are the spoilers ... 10 men behind the ball fgs

You could have saved us, Gignac. You could have saved us all.

Danny Murphy loves the Golden goal

What about the Silver goal
and the Bronze goal. Although that didn't last for long.

This game is a perfect reason for skipping ET and going straight to penalties...

International football (ca. 1950 - 2016).
Died peacefully in its sleep after a long illness.

Neither did the Silver Goal. Just long enough for Greece to use it against the Czechs.

A lot of France's goals at this tournament came from bad defending though. First time they've come up against a solid and well organised one (and a strong keeper)

There have been so few chances that that header almost gave me a heart attack.

Actually true.

For me though, the "moments" I will most remember are of pretty dull matches, England playing as poorly as I can recall.

Positive one though is Wales, not a "good" team, but played together as a unit and really surprised me.

It's a logical conclusion if teams won't attack for fear of conceding even when they're given the full half hour to equalise.

No rule change, it's still the same the whole of the ball the whole of the line.
Only part of the ball has to be within the arc according to the FIFA rules.

I cant believe both these sides are in the final, especially Portugal. A handful of teams should have been able to knock them out handily.

And Iceland, and the volcano chant.

Which will be seen all over next season.
