Panasonic TX28DTMI 28" C TV with integrated Freeview
A local retailer has this for £499.99 with a Free DMRES10 DVD Recorder.
The DVD recorder was the one I was going to buy but I don't know about the TV. Does anyone have one and if so I'd love your thoughts on it. I already have a Humax Freeview box but thought it would be tidier to have an integrated Freeview and it would be one less remote control! I'd really appreciate feedback. Thanks! Liz |

the dtm is a good tv, but i wouldn't buy a tv with intergrated digital, after what i have seen over the years as a electrical retailer, there can be a few problems with the freeview tuner, which in turn leads to problems down the line with the rest of the TV. Its like a chain effect. £499 looks like a good price though, as the pana 10 dvd rec is new out and is multi format. hope this helps

Thanks for the advice! Really appreciated.
I'll stick to the TV I have with the separate Freeview box and just buy the DVD recorder. Liz |

You might consider spending some of the money you've just saved on a 2nd cheap FV box. This will enable you to record on digital channel while recording another.
With your set up you will be able to record what you are watching, record digital while you are out, record digital while watching analog or vice versa. Rgds, Scorp |

Thanks Scorp!
I thought that but when I said about getting another Freeview Box the aerial installer said I would have to watch it in another room!!!! Maybe he meant if I got the same model? Surely if I get two different models so the remotes are different that would be ok? What FV Box would you recommend? I would like one with Text. Liz |

I only have one FV box here (a Panasonic) in my daughter's room although we have 2 Sky installations.
I have a signal booster for the (extremely rare) occaisions when I need analog downstairs (watching a 3rd channel while recording 2 others on sky+!!) and this gives a really good picture even though the aerial is in the loft. I havent needed a booster so far for the Panny upstairs although it may be useful to get one if you are looking at 2 STBs off the same areial. I cant recommend a particular STB but many are under £45 these days. Good luck, Rgds, Scorp |

the best ones out there at the momment in my honest opinion are the philips. slim, easy to operate and two scarts with an RF loop. will do the job and are only around £60.

Thanks again both!
I know this is going slightly off the thread but I have a mystery I need solved! I've been getting interference on Freeview in the form of wavy diagonal lines. I contacted the electrician who installed the box and he said it sounds like the cables need dressed. I noticed today however that on Ext 2 the picture is perfect and even sounds better than Channel 5 where I usually watch Freeview. Why would this be and is there anyway I can record from this channel as I haven't been getting very good pictures on recording ie a graininess is on the picture. Ext 1 is the 'video channel'. The only options to record apart from the usual channels are L1, L2, F1 and S1 Also, I didn't get the digital aerial installed as it made my analogue picture worse. The electrician said he could fit an amp for the analogue but I have ghosting and I am worried that the amp will make this worse? I'd very much appreciate your advice as always. Thanks! Lix |

I noticed today however that on Ext 2 the picture is perfect and even sounds better than Channel 5 where I usually watch Freeview. The fact that you select 'channel 5' for Freeview (and its worse than EXT2) tells me you are watching Fv over an RF cable rather than scart into EXT2. Also, you said that you have the video going into EXT1 which would be better the other way round - because EXT1 supports something called RGB (red, green, blue) which is good and should be linked to your digibox as this will certainly send RGB. Your VCR doesnt support RGB yet you are taking up the RGB socket........ OK, sorry about the jargon but here is how this set up should be........easy peezy!! Digibox TV scart ---> TV EXT1 Digibox VCR scart ---> VCR AV2 (if there are 2 scarts otherwise the only one!) Aerial in ---> digibox RF in digibox RF out ---> TV RF in And that is it! To watch digibox press EXT1 on TV To record from digibox set VCR to the scart socket you connected to (I said AV2 but this may be AV1 if you only have one scart on the VCR) To play a tape, leave TV on EXT2 and press play......picture appears. To stop, press stop....picture reverts to digibox. To watch analog TV while recording from gigibox......press, 1,2,3,4,5 etc. After you have set this up I would autotune the TV again. I think you had RF interference. I also dont think you will need an updated aerial. Good luck, Rgds, Scorp |
