No. That would mean there was a possibility of Paula Lane returning . It won't happen.
I have to admit it would be interesting to feature a fake death that WE know has been faked and leaves the door open for the actor, but I doubt it will happen also.
Do the producers kill characters off as revenge for leaving?
Or do they just seize the opportunity to make the best drama out of it? They don't often get the opportunity to kill off a well-loved character.

I think it depends. I'm sure some have acted out of spite and just killed major characters off when the actor wanted a break or asked for the door to be left open. At the same time though, how many other jobs can you quit and ask for the possibility of a return to be kept open?

It's not revenge for leaving. Going is seldom the actor's choice. Thinking they're bigger than the programme and can do what they like and widely publicising that usually leads to a P45 and a mediocre send-off.
Sadly, because I like both Kylie & Paula, I think the ptb probably rejoiced when Paula announced she had agreed to leave (I did read somewhere it was a mutual decision) as it was a perfect opportunity to sort out the mess they'd left themselves in by making Kylie a killer!!
Sacrificing the character to save the Platt family as a whole has sadly become the most realistic course of action so no I don't see anything but a tragic death for Kylie, which will at least give Paula a great send off & people will remember Kylie with affection & sympathy rather than as a killer who got away with it!!

Didn't Gail and the husband before Michael - Joe McIntyre, father of Liz's "best barmaid" - plan to fake Joe's death and he got killed setting it up?
Personally, I think death is the only believable exit for Kylie.

You could take the trailer with her getting into the front seat of her hearse as symbolising that Kylie has control of her "death" and so it is faked but I don't think the writers are actually bright enough to come up with anything other than the obvious.

Yes Gail's husband Joe did plan to fake his death, however Gail wasn't in on it and was appalled when Joe revealed his intent (which happened on the same night he died). But his plan was to disappear out on the lake so he would be declared dead at some point in the future, which seems to be the only solution if someone wants to fake their death. With Kylie

I agree. Plus the character doesn't need to be tarnished further by having her abandon her kids and mislead them into thinking she is dead! And I know David can come across unhinged and not quite right, but he cares for Max and I wouldn't like to see him keep from him that his mother is alive and well.
No, I really don't think so. It doesn't make sense to leave that many loose ends with an actress who has no intention of returning. People would always question where Kylie is, what would happen to the kids when they start getting older and asking questions, how David would be able to move on all while Kylie is on the run as surely he'd still love her. I can't see how that would be a better option than her going to prison where she could still see her kids etc - if they were going to keep the character alive.
The trailer ad is still mysterious though. I have to wonder if that means she kills herself? Like the pressure about what she's caused to Sarah or the guilt etc causes her to take drugs again or something and she overdoses?

For realism & dramatic effect I could really go with that idea & has it ever been done on a soap before, for a major character like David to just literally wake up & find his wife has just died for seemingly no reason!!
Simple as it is, that would actually be a real shocker!!

I like this too. Simple yet harrowing. It'd be a tough watch though.
