Samsung Smart hub not working

Basically the other day BBC red button stopped working on my Samsung Smart TV (Samsung UE22F5400) with the message 'Your TV needs an update to access this BBC service. Update your TV Apps through your App portal or store (and TV firmware if required).'
So I did a Software Update via the tools option (under support), and now none of my smart apps work, with the message 'Smart Hub is being update. Please try again later.'
It was brought from John Lewis 3 years ago, with a 5 year guarantee included if that's any difference (does that cover software?).
Any help with this guys.
