As good as the players you mention above were, only Maldini and maybe Totti can make a claim to be as big as say someone like Zidane, who will really be ranked as one the top players of all time. Maldini won a world cup as did Totti maybe thats why you cannot really mention scholes in the same breath as someone like Paulo Maldini. You mention Torres but he has never been in the running to be classed as one of the greatest players of all time, he simply does not have the ability or the credentials, Ronaldo and Messi both have the ability, but now, ONLY Ronaldo has the CV to claim to be the greatest player on the planet. After he has finally added an international winners medal to his cabinet.
What's important is a players influence over teams which win trophies and how much say they had in it. That's what defines greatness. Your argument reminds of when France won the world cup in 1998 and Frank le Beouf played one game (the final) and then kept saying he won the world cup as if he was a pivotal figure in the sides tournament win. |

Love how all the Ronaldo haters cannot accept the fact that Ronaldo has achieved more than Messi lool. Just accept that Ronaldo is the biggest superstaR Legend and Messi will never accomplish what Ronaldo has. Messi will stay at Barca and score wonder goals against the might of Granada for the rest of his career, Ronaldo will retire knowing he has done everything possible to win something for every team he has played for and been successful in doing so.

Goodness grief. A great players career isn't defined by whether they win at international level or anything else for that matter. Johan Cryuff never won anything with Holland but it doesn't in anyway devalue his career.

Ability wise they are not that far off from each other, but Ronaldos superior heading ability and greater aerial presence even out Messis greater dribbling abilty. Ronaldo is better. |

When you look at Ronaldo's contribution to Portugal throughout the tournament, one could argue he singlehandedly won it for them, it has shades of MARADONA 86. He was their top scorer, set up Quresma for the late winner against Croatia and ALL his goals were vital goals, make no mistake, when MESSI failed and decided to give up, Ronalso rose to the big occasion, stepped up to the plate and delivered. This is why Ronaldo is the greater player.

Considering they played 100 minutes of the final without him, one would have to be a bit dim.

When their hero and leader got chopped purposely it galvanised the team and inspired them to avenge their leader, this shows that Ronaldo is also a better leader than Messi.

While MESSI gets sent to prison for dodging taxes and runs away from internatonal football, (maybe because they dont pay him as much money as barca) Ronaldo is in tears lifting the EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY FOR HIS COUNTRY. Ronaldo is the best!

Ok. If 18 honours for club and country is more than 29 honours for club and country, then yes, Ronaldo has achieved more.

Did you know: Ronaldo's success has all been inspired by that time he saw Alan Smith get his leg broken? Ever since he's been galvanised to go on and succeed for his honour. Alan Smith = football's greatest leader.

He always did. I don't know why he took him winning with his country for some people to realize that 😒😒
When Messi go to another league and is as successful like Cristiano is in Madrid then I can consider him the greatest. Until then, I never will ✋✋. The main reason why some people hail Messi as the best is because they dislike Cristiano as a person. That's all. Technique , sheer willpower, athleticism, hard work , extreme hard work ....when all these things are considered Cristiano is above Messi. I would concede that Messi might be slightly more naturally talented than Cristiano. Cristiano had to hone his talent. |
