Having to renew BT Broadband every year.

I've been with BT for over 20 years, both landline and internet and have always been happy with the internet service I receive.

For a long, long time I was paying about £25 per month for internet along with the line rental and call package on top.

A few years ago, I happened to notice their fantastic offers for new customers. I knew I wouldn't be able to get the same deal but I called them anyway to see if I could get any discount.

They told me that the package that I was on didn't even exist any more and that they could certainly give me a better deal, which they did. It reduced my overall monthly cost by about £15 and gave me an unlimited broadband deal.

However, I still have to remember to phone up every year and renew the 12 month contract because if I don't, they put me back on to the old deal (that doesn't exist anymore) and I end up paying over the odds until, usually when I receive the first bill at the old rate, I remember to ring up and renew it.

Does any one else have this problem?

They'll be putting back on their standard package.. My contract was due to end recently but i received a series of emails with various offers on, all which reduced my various accounts with BT... They are getting a lot better at communicating with customers

No as I keep a diary (Outlook) so I can re-negotiate 4-6 weeks before renewal.

I also renew annually with BT Caller Display which is free for 1 year, and they email me a month before that runs out, and an email before my annual Line Rental Saver runs out.

I also get an email every month linking me to my latest bill.

And of course, every time they do a price rise they email me about that.

I really can't see how I could ever miss the renewal date!

Yes, it is a big problem for every service you have - Gas , Electricity . Car and home insurance and so on. All it actually does is piss off the customer. Fortunatly I have the time to make them all work for it!
