She's now earning 16x her Corrie salary and got a string of TV roles lined up. Not bad for someone who was destined to 'fade into insignificance' after leaving. Shame Blackburn killed Tina off though, she made Rita bearable.

And what has she done to her hair!

For once one of our uk lot are doing well! The aussie are lucky and sucessful what with Heath Ledger, Margo Robbie and Chris Hemsworth who starred in home and away and neighbours, its nice to see our actors from soaps being successful as well.

She's doing well for herself, but at the moment I wouldn't say soap's biggest success story, the likes of Suranne Jones and Sarah Lancashire I would say are.

I guess it depends on whether you measure success in money or critical acclaim. I think she's a good enough actress but would put Sarah Lancashire above her in terms of "biggest success story" as she has managed to impress in some seriously gritty drama.

Michelle, of course, is younger and has it all ahead of her and I think she'll do well.

Its for her role as bobby Moores wife Tina, she has just started filming it

to be fair they quote her as earnng 60k a year on corrie and a lot of the money she earns is not from acting

so no not the most successful, tho I did say if this programme works she might become the next sheridan smith and in demand actress

That massive increase in earnings is not due to acting, it's due to her promotion of beauty and fashion products.

Yes, she seems to be making a tidy sum in endorsements but without acting work those will soon dry up. I wonder how much she has had from OK magazine
I hope she does well, I liked her a lot until her affair with Peter and her just strutting about on the cobbles episode after episode; they ruined her character

I hope she doesn't go down the same road as Sarah Lancashire, into overkill. She went through a phase of being in everything and never off our screens so we got sick of the sight of her. Fortunately she seems to have been quiet for a while.

well considering before her break in corrie she was working in selfridges with her fella (at the time) anthony quinlan (Gilly in HO & Pete ED) she hasn't done too badly at all

I wonder if all the marriage rumours will start to affect her at some point, but yeah a fair chunk of her earnings will have come from Ok

When looking at soap's "Biggest Stars" are we going to count Americans because then you can include major stars like Brad Pitt, Demi Moore, George Clooney, Julianne Moore, Meg Ryan, Leonardo di Caprio, Tommy Lee Jones, Susan Sarandon and Morgan Freeman.

One of Sir Ben Kingsley's earliest roles was on Corrie in the late 60s. He's gone on to win an Oscar and his soap opera start is now a bit of fairly obscure trivia.

I think we are meant to just include ex corrie stars from the point Tina was killed off

Of course, acting-wise they are in a league of their own.

But Michelle's is a brred of new soap 'stars', who didn't train to be an actor and can get by with good looks. Sure, she's benefited from a lot of endorsements, but TV roles are starting to open up for her. Balancing it well.

She may be as big as Michelle Collins, one day

Tamzin Outhwaite has done well since her EE days. Has worked consistently including female leads in drama series.

Soap's biggest success story.....Kylie, Dannii, Chris Hemsworth, Isla Fisher. I think Michelle Keegan falls far down that list!

Add Joanne Froggatt to the list.

I agree. Anna Friel's done well too.

Agreed. She is nowhere near their level of success.

it's ridiculous to suggest she is successful if that is supposed to reflect a long-term acting career. She is making money from advertising, selling herself and endorsements but that is nothing to do with proper serous acting. Sarah Lancashire, Suranne Jones and Katherine Kelly are clear acting success stories.

Maybe Michelle Keegan will eventually win some more acting roles of a varied kind like the three above. Till then, it's silly to say she's got a successful post-Corrie acting career, and a bit tasteless for her to boast about her earnings.

-km not doing down Keegan's success, she has won a few roles in the 2 years since she left which is more than many, indeed most manage.

But most of her fame, and probably money, stems from the same olace as when she was in the show, her remarkable good looks and romances (now marriage) with famous men, thus ensuring she is constantly in the Press.

She's been very busy but I'd wait to see her work before judging.

I know she does fashion and beauty work but I'm glad she's also found acting work and not gone down a reality TV route with ITV2 documentaries.

Well it was a good gamble for her financially it would appear. But like others have mentioned, most of her success hasn't been riding on her acting career so much as that she must have some good agents and publicists advising her and she's grown her public profile really well. All the beauty/fashion/magazine stuff, nevermind capitalizing on her private life, all worked a charm in turning her from soap star to all around celebrity. I haven't seen any of the shows she's done since Corrie though, have any of you? Is her acting getting better? Does she have the potential to get into the Suranne Jones/Sarah Lancashire league? I do wonder though if the fame and celebrity life might prevent people from taking her seriously enough to get to those ranks (or if she even wants to)
