Sophie Webster and her miserable life
I've never known a more depressing character - constantly whinging, always miserable - When Brooke took the role on - she was a cocky, wise-cracking laugh - I loved her and Rosie together....but since Rosie departed she's been tough to like. I want every relationship to fail - she bloody deserves it.
Trying to split up Kate and Caz - what business is it of hers? She's in Manchester - grab Todd and get down to Canal Street - pop into the She/She Lounge. Now she's in the garage, owned by her Father and 4 steps from home - for some reason she feels the need to 80s power dress - it's a back street garage Soph - not the stock exchange. Is Brooke bored? She acts like she's pissed off and wants to leave but is scared to. COME BACK ROSIE!! |

She is probably bored but knows as she is actually a poor/average for soap actress she probably worries she won't get much work or nothing as consistent and secure as a national soap
As for the character she needs to try leaving the street for more than 5 minutes and realise not everyone you fall for lives 3 doors away |

Blame The Hat and his writing team. it's their fault, it's nothing to do with the actress (who is more than capable) Not her fault that she's been given sh*t material to work with.
She might look bored (can't say I've noticed her looking bored during her scenes, personally).. but she might have the same opinion as you, that she dislikes what her character has become. |

Miserable is the very word to describe her. All her storylines are recycled and based on the quest for her next girlfriend.

But other than that, I don't mind Sophie too much...I can kind of see why they've made her so self righteous and hypocritical, to play Sally's daughter. She would have inherited a lot of those qualities but they come out in a less comical way with Sophie. I do agree that bringing Rosie back would be fantastic if only to be a good foil for Sophie and to keep her in her place. She's only like 20? 21? She needs to stop acting like a 40 yr old know-it-all. However, I do think sometimes the actress's real life persona (which seems kind of annoying and over-confident, at least from what I've felt from her appearances/interviews etc.) impacts how I see her in the show. Though I think that happens to others as well..like Kym Marsh and Antony Cotton whose acting is often overshadowed by their real life. |

Is Sophie still a Christian? We never hear her talk about religion any more.

Hahaha. Yeah this drives me nuts, I don't know why her clothing is so done up just to work in a poky dirty office at a garage!

There was a time when Brooke Vincent, Helen Flanagan, Sally Dynevor and Michael LeVell were the best domestic family in soap.

Sanctimonious so-and-so. Why is she sticking her snout in and meddling in the only lesbian relationship on the street? And why should we root against Caz? She ruined Jenna and Maddie's (remember her?) life, now she wants to pounce after Kate. All her storylines seem to revolve around her sexuality..............boring. Rosie is a far more interesting character, at least she wasn't a sullen mare!! |

How did she ruin Maddie's life. Took away from her life on the streets.

I was only wondering about that the other day. I remember when it was a big storyline because she come out and she was first became Christian. Now it's like it's been forgotten (like many things in Corrie.) They could have done so much with it, especially with Billy being around now (not that I know if they are the same, Christian and Catholic, probably isn't but when did that worry the writers.)

I don't think she's been given much to do of late. I don't think there's anything unbelievable in her interfering in Caz and Kate's relationship. She clearly likes Kate and doesn't like Caz, so there's nothing per se wrong with her character doing what she's doing.
I think that Sophie is one of those characters that seem to make the numbers up and who seem to struggle to command the attention of the script writers. There seem to be too many actors for the screen time that is available (even if that screen time is more than it ever was). |

For me, Sophie's character went rapidly down hill after Sian left (Rosie also departed at the same time) and since then (almost 5 years ago!) I don't think the writers have known what to do with her after than chuck various girlfriends at her. At least they have brought her out of Dev's shop, given her some ambition and matured her.
Sophie was one of my favourite characters between 2007-2009, I use to love watching her take the piss out of Rosie She use to be quite witty. As for Brooke's acting abilities, it's not great but tbh there are far worse on the street.. |

Gay/Lesbian sexual predators seems to be something they like to portray in Corrie at the moment.

The Webster sisters change like the weather - Rosie was at various points a goth, a Katie Price wannabe, smart enough to attend an approved school, so dumb she was nicknamed 'Dozy Rosie', an aspiring business apprentice, one of the scantily-clad models who appear on those cardboard peanuts racks in pubs, a sensitive vegetarian interested in politics, a tactless loudmouth who looked down her nose at her own parents, a naive schoolgirl, a pouting temptress.
Similarly, Sophie is a lazyarse who turns out to have a business brain, a home bird who ran away from home, a selfish little madam who helps the needy - I know all teenagers go through phases, but really? I assume the personality switches comes from their mother's side of the family. |

Catholicism is a denomination of Christianity. She's obviously not that, but I find it hilarious that they've generically called her Christian without any details of what kind. All I kniw is she used to have a Paster.
She belonged to the same church as Emily which is CofE. So Billy is her vicar now, there used to be a different one, more evangelical, which is why the word, "Pastor" was used. However, 'Pastor' is a generic word for church minister of any type. I really like Sophie, she has a lot of credibility and is very likeable. All the characters have ups and downs and quiet periods (Maria is not all that interesting atm, it happens). There will be something bigger for Sophie in the future. |

She is a horrible sexual predator and only thinks about her next conquest, her sister knocks spots off her, hope she comes back at some time, I can't see Sophie lasting much longer as a character because she is so one dimensional, not a lesbian or a clip board? then she doesn't want to know you.
