EE - what are the writers thinking of?
Billy Mitchell's appalling bigoted behaviour just makes me so angry. Surely there really aren't people around, of his age and upbringing, who react like that?TBH the whole storyline had dragged (pardon the pun!) on for far too long and it sickens me. If Les wants to dress up then let him.So what? His wife needs a good shake!

After everything that Les and Pam have done for Billy, especially with Janet and I really don't believe Billy would be that small minded!
Sharon's reaction to Michelle's letter is utter fooking BULLSHITE! |

I also can't believe how Billy is reacting! To call Les a pervert is so utterly ridiculous! It doesn't even make sense!

Pams heavily bigoted attitude doesn't make 100% sense either. Especially when she is SO open and accepting of her gay grandson... she wouldn't be that closed minded by les. Not completely.
It doesn't ring true all these horrified reactions to les. The writers are actually sending out a horrible message and portrayal of society. They are making out like the whole world would cower in disgust that less throws on a wig and skirt. Most people these days wouldn't give a toss. It's really annoying me the way this farce of reactions has all been portrayed. Even Paul who knows about discrimination, isn't protesting for les enough as he naturally would. |

Agree with all of you 're Billy and Sharon's non reaction to Michelle's letter. I do hope they are trolling us with the latter. |

What's really daft is that he goes on about that to Paul, and Paul goes along with it.
A reasonably level headed bloke who is perfectly ok when it comes to either men and women being gay, or about Kyle being s transexual, and who freaks about a man who has helped him liking to wear female clothing from time to time. Surely that just doesn't make any kind of sense. And we seem to be getting the impression that Eastenders is perfectly alright with this, and are just using it to get Paul and Ben set up in business togethet. |

Mark's paternity should only have come out in the event of Ross Kemp returning to the show full-time and Susan Tully putting in an appearance.
DTC won't pull this off either if Sharon's non-reaction to Phil being involved in Dennis's death is anything to go by. It'll be another secret from the past exposed in a dud way. And blabbing so freely just fundamentally goes against Michelle's entire character. Michelle was adamant when she left in 95 that she didn't want Grant to know. There's no way Peggy wouldn't have told him if she'd got the chance to read the letter. Michelle didn't even like Peggy. In 95 Peggy and Sharon were at loggerheads over Sharongate and Michelle used to give Peggy dirty looks and the odd bit of lip. She was nearly thrown out of the Vic on one occasion. |

Dtc was so hellbent on getting the secret out that he doesn't care how its done, he just wanted to be the one to do it. you can say what you like about the previous producers but at least they stayed true to the history of the show and kept the secret.

It's all a bit scorched earth. Wrecking the show in the long term.
him changing the shows history and bringing kathy back from the dead for that gavin mess then of course the ret-conning to connect the older ones and the hubbards another damp squib and non story |

The show is proper grim atm.
DTC lasting legacy, why do they always mess it up in the end, make no sense how the quality nosedive with in one year of his tenure its like they just got so lazy and shut up shop. I don't even want to think what a farcical Grant's next stint is gonna be like! |

the thing is are viewers who didnt watch 20years ago going to be interested in two unknown characters coming in and having a I'm your daddy storyline.
I watched and I am not interested in seeing it ![]() I just don't think the impact will not be as good as it could of been with Michelle and she ain't returning and Grant's only back for 3 weeks and look how they've handled Peggy's death and funeral! my faith in them to do right ain't high tbh.

Have I missed something? I started this thread about Les's cross-dressing and pleased to see some really good comments then suddenly we are talking about Michelle and some sort of secret? 😟 Please can we keep to the original subject.

I can understand Pam finding it hard to accept les's cross dressing as she had been with Les for years and had no idea about Christine. From that point of view she probably feels like she's an idiot for not knowing or feels that she doesn't know les at all. But I don't think that it is in keeping with her character that she would be ashamed by people knowing or that - as she said - she actually agreed with what Billy had to say about it all. Pam is more broad minded than that and after the initial shock in think she would have accepted Christine as being part of les's life even if she didn't want anything to do with her.
I also don't think the way Billy had reacted is true to his character - he probably would react like that about someone he doesn't know very well, but les and Pam have treated him like a soon and gave him a job and a chance when he had nothing. Even if he felt uncomfortable about Christine, I think it would be more realistic of Billy to just say what les does in the privacy of his own home is his business and that he doesn't want to talk about it again. But he wouldn't think he was a pervert, nor would he turn his back on him. |
