Ben - EE (Spoilers)
I can't believe that DTC (and maybe SOC) think that killing Ben off is a good idea, he's one of the stronger younger characters in the show played by a good actor. Loads of connections in the square, loads of potential stories.
Ridiculous

I might think about changing your title a bit as some might not like the spoiler.

What makes you think they're killing him off? Read the wording in the article on DS; "his family are told he's died." It's obviously a mistaken identity.

It's clear as day to me that Ben isn't actually dead - it's Paul. I doubt they'd kill off another of their "legacy children" within 3 years. Ben is what ties Ian to Phil, plus why would they kill off Ben when his mother has finally returned?
We know that Johnny Labey has cut his hair for his new theatre role (assuming that promo pic wasn't photoshopped) so maybe Paul might have cut his hair before the accident and he's identified as a "young white male adult with short dark hair" just to make the audience believe it really is Ben and not Paul... |

It's Paul who died. Paul is carrying Bens ID (obviously no photo)
Obviously in real life they would identify the body first before saying someone is dead |

Ben isn't dying. It's Paul. It'll be a case of mistaken identity.

Obviously it's Paul who's dead. Even though the whole test is completely farcical.

I would imagine, if it is still a Treadmill-Collins story, if they were really going to kill off Ben it would not have been revealed - it would have been one of his "shocks"

I hope not, why kill him off yet the likes of Whitney, Lee and the rest of them are still waltzing around the street.
Ben Mitchell should be what Phil Mitchell is in 20-30 years time. Still an Eastender.

Ahh another post where the OP shows no respect for other people using the forum.
Big massive spoiler in the title! |

I'm assuming...
Ben and Paul go somewhere and there's an *incident* Paul is hospitalised following said incident, but is looking after Ben's wallet. For whatever contrived reason, Ben isn't there to identify Paul to the paramedics when the ambulance arrives. The Mitchells receive the call and go to the hospital, where 'Ben' is pronounced dead. The Mitchells sit around grieving when suddenly Ben appears in the doorway to explain everything. I mean it's far fetched but no more so than Claudette being buried alive or Gavin being a man that people are scared of... |

While it being Paul who die's being the obvious thing, Paul is still in the cast lists next Monday and Tuesday, whereas the death is announced on Monday...

Ben isn't in the cast lists for any of those either. As they realised that we worked out who was dying, returning, or leaving from the cast lists, they've now made it a precedent to put fakeouts. For this reason characters like Jane or Rainie weren't shown when they first returned, while characters like Emma Summerhayes appeared for a week after they died.
More recently, Sharon, Kathy, and Buster have been absent from the cast lists so we wouldn't know if they survived Gavin's 'house of horror'. Its still possible that Ben will die (which, if that does happen, I won't be happy), but cast lists are no longer a way to work out twists (at least not with EE) |

it will obviously be Paul that dies- but OP you really shouldn't post such blatant spoilers in the title of your thread. Some people will be grumpy.

They wouldn't let such a huge storyline as Ben dying become a spoiler, Eastenders are really good at keeping things like this spoiler free, unlike Corrie who spoil everything.

I think like many its a red herring, simply because I don't think they would sacrifice such a central character ( he is a legacy character) just to facilitate Paul's exit and it would come too soon after Peggy's death.

Surely they don't tell a family they're loved one is dead until they know for certain it's them. If they aren't, they like you to identify the body. Surely they could sue the hospital for putting them through unavoidable grief. It's rediculous. Imagine someone having a heart attack after being told their loved one is dead, only to be told later it wasn't them. I can't see how it can't be him. If it is mistaken identity like they say then it seems bit silly.
