TalkTalk Entertainment Extra prices to increase
Frustrating to see that the Entertainment Extra is being tinkered with. Quote:
From 14th August your Entertainment Extra Boost will come in the form of two separate Boosts: as Entertainment Boost (£7 a month) and as Kids Boost (£5 a month). Together they give you access to exactly the same great channels you have now. However, this new combination of boosts means your monthly cost goes up by £2, to a total of £12 a month. Given the fewer channels I'm not sure it's worth it for me.
The price for the Entertainment Extra Boost has remained the same since we launched it. This increase reflects market changes and ensures you continue to get the best range of channels at a competitive price. |

I have had BT TV and Youview well over 2 years now and even though TalkTalk have a few Sky channels that BT don't get. I find BT TV to be better value than TalkTalk TV but that's just my option.

I have the TalkTalk variety and am coming round to sharing your point of view. It's a matter of personal taste, of course, but I have found very little that I wanted to watch since adding the Entertainment Boost a few months ago. Now that half a dozen of those channels have been replaced by the TalkTalk Film Club, it is becoming even less interesting - at least in my view. BT offers more HD content, which is attractive, but I would sacrifice Sky Living, Sky Arts and the TalkTalk Player. The last of those is no great problem really because BT has its own player, which I assume is very similar. The TalkTalk one, however, includes Blinkbox on which I have all six series of 'Game of Thrones', the last of which I haven't even finished watching yet. Apparently I retain my Blinkbox membership even if I leave TalkTalk, so it is a question of whether I would be able to combine it with a BT subscription. I understand that this can be achieved via Chromecast, although it's a bit of a faff. I would have to have a computer accessing Blinkbox and stream it from that.
I am also becoming a bit concerned about my TalkTalk router. My YouView box is hardwired via an ethernet cable, but the Internet channels freeze from time to time. I get a banner on 'Game of Thrones' replay telling me to reboot my router because it has stopped working, even though it plainly hasn't because the programme is still running. I have to press Stop, then Play to get rid of the banner. I won't make a snap decision because there are things that I need to weigh up, but a move to BT looks increasingly likely. |

I don't know what's attractive about BT to be honest. But no doubt pricing of all these companies will follow a pattern.

Right now, what is attractive about BT, for me, is the Home Hub. I am becoming quite disillusioned with the Huawei-built router that TalkTalk supplied. Watching Internet-based material has become irritating because it freezes, then restarts itself after a banner telling me that it has stopped appears. I am on TalkTalk's 38Mbps fibre package and the YouView box is connected by ethernet cable. Until very recently, it performed reliably. Something has changed and I am not sure what. I had the router checked a few weeks ago and it came up with a clean bill of health. That is what I was told anyway. I am still checking on possible causes for this, but have not uncovered anything likely so far..

I'm also on their fibre package, and got a new router from them about a year ago. My next step is probably to leave Talk Talk. |

BT are not 100% perfect but are far better than TalkTalk.
There have been a lot of mixed reviews about TalkTalk on here over the last year or two. As for TalkTalk TV never had there TV service but as I said above BT TV which I have looks better. Darren |

I wouldn't be interested in any of their boosts, even if they were free, so I can't say I'm bothered.

Now that Talk Talk are changing their Boots, dropping channels and increasing prices
do you think people will switch to Sky/Virgin? |

TalkTalk boosts = American rubbish, so I've never bothered with any of them.

So be warned if you have a special offer on Entertainment Extra the boost is now £6. They managed to knock off my boost this week, which was £3.50, so I would have to apply for the £6 boost (normally £12).

I know at lest two people that have dropped Sky and moved to BT TV and also have Netflix.
BT added 4 more new versions of HD channels just a day or so ago and seem to be improving there service. Every company puts up there prices at lest once a year. Had a quick look at the Talk Talk website last night and although there TV offering seems ok. Its seems to be BT and BT TV that now seems to be the big alternative to having Sky. You would think Talk Talk would try and improve its service instead of dropping a few channels. I don't watch every channel BT TV has to offer but it has a good channel choice that dose me. I never tane Sky Movies as I already had Netflix and think that looks a better value than Sky Movies. Darren |

You can probably soon add me to that list of people. My TalkTalk contract is up in January and I have almost decided to move to BT. TalkTalk's subscription services are dwindling slowly. They are losing customers (300,000 since the much publicised hacking of last year, apparently). On top of that, I am not happy with TalkTalk's Huawei router and expect the BT Smart Hub to wipe the floor with it, from what I have read. Added to that, BT's subscription services are expanding. No Sky channels as yet, but that that is not a deal breaker for me. Under my current TalkTalk deal, I get half a dozen Sky channels and very rarely find anything I want to watch on five of them. I quite like Sky Arts, but much of its best stuff is available on YouTube anyway, so I wouldn't be giving it up altogether.

I was quite happy with my package until they started messing with prices and removing channels. When they start to creep the prices up from £2.50 to £3.50 to £6.00 in the space of a few months you start to question whether it's needed or not. I had an argument with them about the fact they'd removed my existing offer without prior communication so they have given me some discount for a few months, but whether I'll keep that going beyond the discount remains to be seen. Frustrating really.
BT's offers seem attractive but I do quite like the Sky channels. |

If you like the sky channels but attracted to BT best option would be to go to BTTV then get Now TV seperately. Think now tv is £7 a month and thats your sky channels you can add or takeaway when ever you want.

We bought a Now TV box when TalkTalk dropped the Discovery channels earlier this year and so will still be able to get Sky 1 & Arts if and when we change provider at the beginning of 2017. Now TV isn't ideal - no recording facility being the main omission - but there is an awful lot of catch up & on-demand so even if you miss something there's a pretty reasonable chance of it being available to stream. |
