Morning All
Sorry if the statements I make below have already been touched on, but I dont get chance to read every post on DW.
Ok so here is my thought.
Everyone has has made the connecting issues i.e. Bad Wolf, the Daleks return in 12 & 13, but having sat and watched The Long Game this morning the following thoughts hit me.
What if all the enemies from all the episodes return in 12 & 13, my reason for thinking this is:-
1) The autons several papers prior to and surrounding episode one seemed to link the autons with the slitheen, i just thought its the papers they have it wrong AGAIN! Personally the Autons return was a bit feeble they were present on screen probably for about 5 minutes of the show, and I appreciate the character building but for 30 years without the Autons I dont buy there return for 5 just 5 minutes.
2) The face of Boa in the publicity running up to the episode 1 & 2 CE appeared on Blue Peter in it he stated that the face of Boa would return in later a later episode. (this could just be the long game but i doubt it) he seems like quite a creation to be used once, DW confidential never made much of a fuss about him kind of playing him down. All the fuss was about Cassandra. Now Cassandra pointed the blame at Boa or at least tried to "talk to the face!". Several places reported in news (not just forums) that Cassandra maybe a porn prior to screening episode 2. So most of us fans knew she was the villain at the end prior to viewing.
3) The Gelth they are gas based creatures CE mentioned in interview that the Gelth were quite frightening and that they would be in future episodes (note episodes) I believe he first touched on this in Blue Peter, it was also mentioned in other publicity around the time episode 2 aired. The gelth seem able to invade the bodies of the dead.
4 & 5) Now on the Saturday that Aliens Of London was aired in the TV guide of the Daily Mirror they reported that the Slitheen were allies with the autons. They also stated about the Autons at a wax work now we know there was no mention of either Waxworks or the autons. However I remember vaguely reading in news on Outpost Gallery of Autons at the Waxworks. hmm was my thought. But again there is a lot of flannel surrounding these things so I just let it pass by, however it seemed strange that I had heard there was a connection between both the Autons & the Slitheen before.
6) Dalek widely rumoured since the day the episode format was revealed that the Daleks would return, hinted on several times, and originally is it Nick Briggs was listed as a Dalek voice in both 6 12 & 13 then removed for whatever reason.
7) The long Game the face of Boa appeared on screen briefly, The Editor rumoured in several places to be a re-occuring face. Adam being a bit devious (someone mentioned roses alarm by the way, every time roses alarm goes off or at least a similar noise it heard Adam is being devious) and then there is the Jagareth (or however spelt) now on DW Confidential there was a lot of how did he get there bobbins, and it was implied we would find out in further episodes.
So I have made a couple of what I consider links that others may or may not have mentioned appologies if they have. This Time war we know that the Timelords are involved and that the Daleks are involved but you would think for such a major thing to have occured they may not have been alone???? Our own realtime experience shows that in war there are never just 2 sides, there are third parties waiting for unique moments to attack, and allies. In Modern times there have never just been 2 sides.
In The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances there are Zombie type creatures wearing Gas masks, now there are three plays to gas These creatures (dead humans i believe) wearing gasmasks, the geth who seem attatched to gas, and The Slitheen who fart a lot. Although until aired nobody knows but maybe the gas theme is something.
This weeks DW confidential seemed keen to play up both the Editor, Davros, Van Stratton all of whome took more air time than given to both the Master and the Rani (maybe they were just thrown in for distraction).
I appreciate a lot of what i have said is rumours, but I know that many reading will have also read these rumours, I know that i'm not alone in reading them, or hearing them. As its all been in print or interview speech, I just dont have the time to find and quote exact sources. I feel these are relevant points that should not be dismissed.
I also again think and i have mentioned this before that RTD and friends are aiming at a audience of mainly children (obviously at the fans) but they have made it apparent that DW is for the kids of a new generation, so some of the deeper connections I have read on here I wonder if they are plausable what 7-12 year ld is going to sit and think of some of these intense connections. They just would not get it. I think the links will have to be something simple that any child could get there head round.
One final thing, The Radio times stated in a future episode the Doctor runs into someone he thought was dead, this could be a variety of things, but what if it was just Anne Robinson. If you went into the future and found Anne Robinsone (even if only a robot) you would be suprised.
