The Time Lords can only regenerate 12 times, I think. Is that right?? So David Tennant, and two more would be the total number...Ian McKellan would be good though!

One of the main consquences seems to be that ITV have lost the ability to produce a hit show

Cant wait !”

So Christopher Ecclestone is returning?

So the Master will be up against some stock footage of dead Doctors and a bunch of fat and old live ones? Gripping viewing.

There isn't enough Sanatogen on the planet to make that look convincing.

Nah, Christopher Ecclestone won't be back. He's too much of a thesp to do that (or at least, he thinks he is... )

For the BBC account of the many explanations.

I honestly cannot see a 10 Doctors, the fans wont buy 3 replacement Doctors at the very least ( idoubt CE, CB or PM would do it) the stock footage would look too dated now, I should not Imagine the finances are in place for such a major project, they could never warrant such a project for 10 doctors to be inforced they would need a worthy series of adversaries also, I think there is more chance of us shi**ing in the queens handbag.

One more point dont the Time Lords have to be involved in order for this to occur, and is'nt one of the key points of series one to show that they are all dead?

The Master managed a bit more - by taking over Tremis' body in The Keeper of Traken using the flame.

There is always a way....

I'm still on my 1st body at the moment though....

The Timelords were in the 5 doctors with the Time Scoop, but I don't know what happened in the Three Doctors.

They could always do a 'how ever many they can' Doctors.

And he took over Bruce in the 1996 edition.

Would the Doctor do this though? Killing others so he can regenerate?

In the three Doctors, the tim lords feared the foe threat so Great they called on Patrick Troughton, and William Hartnell (in a floating pyramid) to help.

In the Two Doctors, Colin Baker arrived due to a distress signal I believe but how it all came together I cant remember.

I could see the possibility of 2 or 3 Doctors, but never 10.

I was under the impression that the Timelords could grant further regenerations. Ofcourse, he would have to restore them first, and the restoration would deserve a reward.

Did RTD not say on the record, it was an idea for future series but he would not introduce it so soon after the series returned.

I think he said it would confuse or cause them to lose the new viewers

No, the Timelords don't have to be involved for shi**ing in The Queen's handbag. Though they'd probably make it easier.

Anyway, they ate'nt dead.

I can't see them introducing an idea like that, especially when it's been so long since Dr Who has been on TV. If it was an ongoing series, then maybe they would, but since it's not - I can't see it happening either.

And by ongoing, I mean something that's on TV every year without fail.

I genuinely hope Russell is using this forum - there have been some wonderful suggestions for series development and story arcs and such - be a shame to see them wasted.

Could also have a moan at him for so many puerile influences in the show that he's in danger of doing Dr. Who just as much harm as he is good. Get a grip, before it's too late, I say.

I agree, although i'm enjoying the show. CE is quite annoying and there are some very childish things going on.

With old DW it appealed to kids without having to involve farts! It was both a show adults and Children could enjoy, the special effects were disaterous, but on the whole most stories were amazing.

I think the use of humour has been very important for building an audience and thus to the show's success. Of course, getting the level right is rather tricky. The overall level has been about right for my 11-year olds. They thought the farting gag was funny once (basically just done too often, even for them!) but they didn't understand the '45 second' joke (so too sophisticated for them). But they have really enjoyed it overall.

Sci-Fi and monsters will always appeal to kids. Fart gags, rubber suits, illogical and dumbed-down scripting, burping wheelie-bins and the like, won't. It'll earn a reputation. I've said it before, it's only the talents of Chris Eccleston and Billie Piper keeping this show afloat - as with the exception of one or two episodes, it's been decidedly average to below average. Sure they can do so much better if they drop all the camp comedy baggage..
