I must say that I enjoy reading loads of people's posts on here.
It's the many mixed views that help people come up with ideas in the first place.
And that includes the many one-off posts by people who don't post that often.

Not sure people really engaged with this story in the same way they did with others and though it had it's highlights, it left me rather indifferent compared to other episodes.

I was referring to the BoE quote standing for Bank of England - nothing more. And I did put a question mark after whoever I thought might have come up with the idea originally. I seem to remember someone quoting a financial newspaper at the time.

The Face of Boe could probably have a deal going with someone. As long as Boe makes his money, then the other person/people unknown can carry out their own agenda.

Boe can exploit human's love of money, and manipulate them, take their money, brainwash them,...then they are nicely weakened enough for this other party to carry out their own agenda.

What are your thoughts on Face himself? We've seen him in two time periods now - do you think it/they are incredibly long-lived, or have time travel technology?

Now someone has mentioned the Bank of England connection, I'm also wondering if it's an inherited title, like the Governor of the Bank of England.

Isn't the Governer simply the 'Face' of the BoE?

I don't know if you caught my post a couple of pages back, but I said that I thought this person would probably be Rodrick.

I think it would have to be either a human or a timelord.
As people think this person is immortal, then maybe we can narrow it down to timelord.

Can't see it being an alien looking being, as the description wouldn't be that people think this person is immortal, they would see it as just an "alien". It's hard to explain, but I think they just would,..if you see where I'm coming from.
"Alien" would be the first description to come to mind before "Immortal" if this person was identifiably alien, I would think.
It's hard to explain what I mean, but put simply, you tend to associate the word "Immortal" to a human with this trait.

So right now, I'm plumping for Rodrick the timelord.

I don't know whether anyone has said this (and I apologise if they have), but if Annette Badland returns, couldn't it be as a human rather than a Slitheen? If she returns as a Slitheen character, the episode would have to be set in the near future again, and that may prove a little repetitive. Could she not bump into the Doctor and Rose on one of her official visits somewhere?

I agree entirely about the alien thing - a monster is a monster is a monster, no reason to suspect it would be 'immortal'. For someone to think they had found an immortal being, also makes me think it would have to be of human appearance. Maybe they've seen him mortally injured, dying perhaps - or tried to kill him themselves and he regenerated in front of them?

If they tried to kill him even once and he regenerated, people would certainly think he was immortal.

I did actually try to work out what the initials BOE might stand for,..but I still didn't get it.

Well, I was thinking that it may be set before the Slitheen nicked her body. Of course, when I say 'thinking', I mean 'hoping' But if people have seen her changing in and out of costume, I guess we'll have to put up with more fart jokes and zippy foreheads. Rubbish.

No harm done and I had a damn good chuckle.

The thing is, having worked at high level for two of the leading banks in the past, I should have got it. (One of them was RBS). So allthough I honestly wasn't bitter about not making the connection (my tongue was very firmly in cheek!), I was a little disappointed that I could be so forgetful.

I think the Face does have time travel capability because he would need to in order for an audience being capable of watching the Doc get up to shenanigans as part of a future TV show. If this is what the TV reality game show is showing.
And in episode 2, it seems that they were aware of teleportation devices.

The idea has already been introduced to viewers that information can be transmitted throught time, as demonstrated with Rose and Adam's telephone calls. So I would assume that video pictures could also be transmitted across time as well. So then you can get a future reality TV show watching events from the past.
What I'm saying here is that the phone calls by Rose and Adam could be a simple plot device (much like the "meme" plot device) to get a certain idea across to viewers, so things make more sense in a future episode when the idea is reintroduced in a television game show.

Ah....the Tardis itself may be transmitting these pictures for the reality show. Maybe?

I also remember someone being a little unkind about the fact that Annette was of a wider girth than her stunt double, and saying it showed even more when she was in her costume.

Let's hope she has managed to fix the 'gas exchange unit' or whatever it was called if we do see her again.

Indeed - teleportation devices are banned in the year 5 billion. But no mention of their banning in the year 200,000 (at least, I didn't catch one.)

Actually I think the reality tv idea is a damn good one. I remember saying a while back that I thought someone would be using a timescoop/miniscope to bring back dead celebrities from the past - although they could just as easily use a time ship of some sort, or just stream the video.

But then they need to get the characters to interact with each other in some way.

Are you perhaps thinking of something long the lines of (not The Trueman Show, the other one by Liz Hurley?) as a possible scenario for the Doctor and Rose?

I haven't seen a Liz Hurely reality show film, so I don't know.

I do think that one or two of those dormant "Bad Wolf" websites set up by the BBC, are there for the purpose of the reality show. Just like Big Brother has it's website for when the show starts, with all the contestants photos all lined up along the top of the page.

Did anyone see that "Tonight with Trevor McDonald" show last night, featuring the craze called "Happy slapping"?

I thought it was quite uncanny considering what the speculation of Doc Who is about with this reality show, and how human society is developing.
I immediately thought about the Doc Who reality show thing when I saw that.

Exaggerate the idea of "Happy slapping" a few thousand years and you get people using cataclysmic violent situations such as wars and watching them for voyeuristic, sick entertainment.

Not exactly on topic, but I was intrigued by the news in the real world, and how that could be extended in science fiction.

I can't remember the title of it, but it was made by her production company. The basic premise is the same as The Osbournes, which is the idea I think you're referring to for the reality tv show for the Doctor and Rose? In which case, I think you're probably right.

EdTV? In that one, though, the 'star' of the RTV show consented to being followed by cameras 24/7.

I did speculate a few weeks ago if one of the Platforms from episode two hadn't been moved into place to watch the destruction of Gallifrey, since Jabe and co. knew about it.

I would like to see the 'immortal' that's been mentioned to be revealed as a middle-aged woman, and have her look confusedly into the doctor's eyes and say '...Grandfather?' - But that's not going to happen.

Glad to read on this thread so many people thinking, like me, that there have been a lot of references to current international corruption (most blatant being the remote-control flying machine hitting the major city landmark, to trick people into agreeing to a war that's really all about money - But don't get me started on that!).

Of course it's Prof Steven Hawking - I've seen him working with the Gay Daleks on a Victor Lewis-Smith program only recently and all the facts add up.
He could build a time machine and change history (as VIZ comic stated) as easy as he could hop on a bus.
