Samsung have confirmed the Galaxy Note 7 will be unveiled on the 2nd August 2016. Looks like they are going to miss out the Note 6 name. The Note 5 was never available in the UK so it remains to be seen if the Note 7 will see these shores.

Assuming this is the only new product being announced, I am going to a UK event on the 2nd in London - so I'd conclude it must be coming here.

However, if there are multiple devices (like new tablets, watches) then maybe not.

The Note 4 has served me well for the last couple of years and it just so happens that the earliest I can upgrade is from the 2nd August. I really hope that the Note 7 does get a UK release, as I would be looking to get it on release (Tariff depending).

I reckon at least a £30 upfront cost, unsure about guessing tariffs yet. Roll on Monday.

$850 in the US so convert to pounds and 20% VAT = £770 by my maths. Seems a little high?

I watched the stream earlier and while some of the specs vary when compared to the typical early rumours, I have decided that it will be a nice upgrade to get from the Note 4. All we need now is tariff information.

It's a nice device.. Been playing with it all afternoon (!) but at that price I'm not sure it will be that popular. Pretty much an S7e with S Pen.

If the price falls, I wouldn't say no though.

I have to say the image quality from the camera is impressive based on the samples presented on Samsung's website.

I've thought the same for the last few years but if the new iPhone is a shower of disappointment the Note 7 may just sway me dependent on upfront costs and tariffs.

Camera is the same as the S7 isn't it? It's excellent but unless you need the pen, get the S7 edge.

The impressive performance jump was over the Note 5. I don't think there's a massive difference between the S7 and Note 7.

We were only told about the new Gear VR headset, not the memory card.

I know Samsung doesn't expect to sell millions of these, but I can't see people rushing. I'd wait until the price comes down, not become the first having paid a ridiculous Apple-like price.

My hands-on and first impressions. Not sure there's that much else that can be said about the phone at this stage!

Looks nice but not sure it does enough to differentiate itself from the S7 edge.

water proof (or resistant?) stylus would be a useful addition to the S7e. As long as the thing doesn't fall out and get lost after a year or so.
I need to nurse my S5 along (it's started going black screen and unresponsive sometimes) until the prices drop though. Is that usually in about 6 months' time?

The S7/S7e seems to have held its value quite well, but if you look around it seems that there's not a great deal of love for the Note 7.

What you have is all the tech sites, particularly the ones given early access to the phone on the 28th July (and presumably want to continue getting pre-briefs, so won't say anything too controversial), saying great things - and most of the comments saying it's too much, hardly much better than the S7e (suggesting many people aren't that bothered about the S Pen) etc.

I know from people I knew at Samsung that sales of the Note in most of Europe was poor. There was good reason not to bring the Note 5 here, although that said, there's no reason it couldn't have been offered via Samsung's own store on a SIM-free basis. That's why the S6 edge+ came.

But a number of people did complain (10,000 according to Samsung) and Samsung has now used that as a way of saying it listened to demand, when of course the reality is that there's no S7 edge+ coming this time around.

It's very much a device that I doubt anyone would say no to if being given it free, or if it was half the cost, but not many will be rushing to buy it when it comes out.

I loved my Note 2 - one of my all time favourite phones.

It's going to take a lot for me to bother upgrading from my Nexus 6p though.

Taking of which, the new flagship Nexus looks like a step down from the 6P too. It will have a faster SoC but appears worse in so many ways (smaller screen, base speaker not front facing etc).

I just know that it will have massive bezels because that's what HTC always do.

There's really no excuse for not having stereo speakers as the fingerprint scanner will be on the back of the phone meaning the bottom front bezel should be left clear.

It's even stranger when Google said last year how important the speakers were on the 6P...

I've still got a Nexus 5 which works fine, so I have a feeling that we'll see people hanging on to the 6P and new customers will seek out the 6P over the new one.

Rather like when Google lost the plot on tablets, and people were seeking out the Nexus 7 (2013).

I actually got one for someone a couple of months ago from Argos (sold as 16GB but turned out to be 32GB!!) because it is still a better spec than most new tablets. Wireless charging, Full HD display, decent sound, latest OS (okay, maybe not Android N but we don't know for sure).

I've just upgraded to the s7 edge and I'm still within my 14 day returns period so I could return the phone and get the note 7 instead. However I'll stay with the edge. The note doesn't offer anything over the edge imo. I've owned three note phones (1,3 and 4) and I never used the s-pen. 5.5 inches is plenty big for me.

The Note 7 is probably the best designed Samsung phone for me ever. However, after owning 4 Samsung phones, with the Note 4 being the latest, I'm really fed up of Samsung now. I dislike the all glass backs (even though they look great), and their Touchwiz looks worse than ever on the Note 7. I'm just tired of their design and sick of their software now.

I would never consider another iPhone until they sort out the bezels, and sort out battery.

I really want a Sony phone, because I love their design, but they always seem to miss the mark with a few things.
