Well, correct, I doubt there's a law that has been passed to stop this.

However, I am not sure why you think that would make it okay - or that you're not liable for charges under other existing laws, or terms and conditions in the case of insurance claims, if there was an incident.

I must be so naive. I thought this level of stupid only existed on daytime TV.

If you go into the advice or politics sections on here, or any post on reality TV, you can find many similarities here!

But it's a new one on me for the mobile phones section.

This is basically the end of phones that I like. It's nothing to do with damage to the brand it's the practical issues around packaging the S pen a large battery and everything else in a phone which has to be thinner than the last model.

But you know the device to be unsafe and a fire risk and there are plenty of laws relating to using such a device recklessly and you will certainly find out about some of them if you end up killing somebody.

Tbh I'll end up getting rid of this it's just coming up with a compromisation with Samsung.

If I can get a loan phone till a s8 or whatever comes out I'll take that if I can get a refund for the phone and accessories I'll take that and probably purchase a pixel maybe or have a look at another phone

As I've said I don't have any other phone I'm not paying more for another phone I need a phone to use and Samsung haven't shipped me anything out it took a month for then to get back to me regarding the replacement I can't exactly just go a month without a phone

You can get a ZTE blade 6 for £50 or whatever which will do 90% of what you need if you are stuck. The fact that you got into debt and bought phones from odd places is nothing to do with Samsung. Just get a refund and get on with it.

My issue at the moment is nothing inspires me, the Pixel is overpriced and doesn't wow me, this Note 7 is dead in the water now, LG let us down by not launching the V20 here so it also has no network support for VoLTE etc, the Nexus phones are no more and the iPhone is similarly expensive and just not innovative enough and too restrictive in terms of no google maps on Carplay and the usual Apple restrictions.

I literally can't find a company who has made something that impresses me and which I want to bite their hands off to buy. I'm a buyer, I've got the cash, I want to buy!

What's wrong with just getting a S7 edge again? It's pretty much the same phone, and you'll presumably get some additional money to put towards paying off the finance.

Or buying whatever comes up in the next ad break.

JonMorris I've already explained why I didn't like the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge....

Well may be this rush to make the thinnest phone possible needs to be put on hold for now. In the future when companies market a phone as its thinnest ever, consumers won't be thinking "Wow, what incredible tech!", they'll be thinking "Is it a fire risk?!"

I'd settle for a fatter, safer phone!!

Yes but it's time to cut your losses and get one of the S7s as they'll probably suit you best. The only alternatives are those giant Chinese phablets I guess by Huawei and Xiaomi.

Why did you buy one then? Did you buy it without testing it out first, or so quickly from a TV ad that you didn't get a chance to read the proper reviews. Proper as in reviews written by people who used it for longer than 15 minutes and raced out a five start review to get the maximum traffic and promotion by the manufacturer....?

Honestly I purchased it because it's was more a less the best smartphone out or one of the best anyways. I'm sure there's non public testing projects prototypes that Samsung make that feature like 20 cores and stuff for testing purposes.

You don't see these issues in a video until you experience the device.

Yes you do. I decided on getting an iPhone SE purely on the weight of evidence from youtube reviewers to be honest. Obvious compromises but many of them loved it and even preferred it over the 6S due to the size and packaging. I already suspected I would fall into this camp and was convinced and I am not disappointed at all. Everything I gleaned, good and bad was right and it's the perfect phone for me at the moment.

I guess if you just blindly buy a phone at launch, there is not that weight of video to watch. I guess that's another lesson to learn. Don't just go out and buy something, especially if you are getting into debt and end up paying twice as much for it and then it goes on fire and kills your family.

Best grow up a bit and wait a month or 3.

Erm, I don't think Qualcomm or Samsung Exynos has yet got to 20 cores.

Of course there are long lead times. I've done consultancy work for Samsung over the years, and I saw designs about a year before the handset was released (one such handset was the Galaxy Nexus S) but the hardware comes later, with a lot of the early design work having to be theoretical if the chips aren't ready. It's almost a case of coming up with the look, then working out how to fit things inside.

Nevertheless, the proper long-term reviews will paint a far better picture than people chasing clicks or seeking to team up with a manufacturer to do advertorials and promotions off the back of a new phone (so clearly having to give a device top marks).

Mind you, I'm not suggesting here that the S7 or S7 edge doesn't deserve praise. They're each wonderful phones. I just don't like TouchWiz, so I was out from the start.

I'm sure Samsung will have a prototype somewhere for example Oak Ridge National Labortory made a super computer with 18,000 GPUs I'm sure Google have a super computer too, likewise with Samsung, Apple maybe not to employees but in the back end I'm sure they'll be something powerful.

Touchwiz isn't too bad on the note7 it's actually quite optimised which makes a change.

This was only a year ago - http://www.pcworld.com/article/29908...-arm-chip.html

I'm sure there technologies have advanced since then but then again just because they ain't publishing stuff doesn't mean there not doing something in Korea.

I've been to Korea three times. Twice with Samsung and once with Qualcomm, which meant meeting Samsung and LG.

We saw their HQs, retail stores, factors and design centre (Samsung had every Apple product known to man on shelves, along with other iconic products) but we never saw the room where anyone had a new chipset before Qualcomm, Intel etc could fabricate them!

Oh, I even met a musician from Samsung that did the ring tones and revealed that every Samsung ring tone is ever so slightly different for each model!

The problem is the market goes a certain direction and all the manufacturers have to follow.

I agree with another poster there is no other interesting phones out there.

Good luck with that but if I'd had a full price refund, I'd have taken it to buy something decent that doesn't behave like petrol vapours when it feels like it.

As with the Windows 10 operating system, what on earth has happened to all the company's quality assurance testers that should be there to spot and stop these clusterfcuks? Cost savings and the dole queue?

I got the Umi Super and I really like it, but the Bluboo Maya Max for a ton plus change looks braw.
Get it, keep the £300 spare, and wait till the networks actually launch things.

As for the Apple buyer saying 'grow up a bit'

Extremely good point, I hate the 'first to post' reviews as people haven't had time to properly use the device and give it several charges, try the screen in bright light, have it crash, try multiple different apps out, get used to holding it a lot, make many different calls on it and get feedback on the sound quality of calls etc etc etc

That's why there's certain reviewers that I really really like, but they aren't the ones which rush to get something and post about it that day.

I looked at the Umi Super and Plus. A lot of phone for the money, and was briefly tempted until I realised theres no NFC, which is a deal breaker for me

A non removable battery was a deal breaker up til I got the Umi..... Fast charge broke the deal.
The Bluboo does make me think I made the wrong choice though, cheaper and 'oooooft' specs, but the build quality on the Umi is soooperb. Plus the 256 memory card capability, and that the Bluboo Volte probably won't work...
