Was the Note 7 able to charge wirelessly much faster than previous devices?

Finally Samsung have helped me after 2 months of constant calling from adviser to adviser.

"- A full refund of the price paid for the Note7. Please provide a copy of the purchase receipt for this.
- If the case is a Samsung branded genuine accessory and your retailer cannot assist Samsung will support. Again, a purchase receipt will be required.
- A payment of £90 will be issued by way of an apology for the inconvenience caused and to recognise the costs of travel.

Please accept our apologies for this experience but trust that this will be agreeable, if you could provide the information above and also the serial & IMEI number for the current device in hand I will confirm receipt and process for you. "

Any suggestions on my next expensive Mobile Device?

Not quite the mickey-mouse number you were angling for, but pretty fair I'd say.

No free loan phone until the Note 8 is released though?

I'd suggest that getting one you can afford should be the highest priority...

Hope so Jon! Perhaps they can spend more time on foldable designs and that sort of thing now.

Nah they didn't like that offer for some reason, but like you said it was "Reasonable" to myself so I was happy to agree, shame it took at the way to go to the CEO Office to get resolved but oh well.

I was originally thinking of purchasing that handset however it's a lot different design to any other Smartphone out there, and I have a feeling it will take a lot of time to get used to.

My 6P just got Android 7.1 this morning. Now have Pixel XL camera app, seamless OS updates, new VR options, app shortcuts, revised pull down menu and support settings. No assistant, pull down via fingerprint sensor, VoLTE or night mode though.

Still, with the other additions, it makes it even harder to justify a Pixel XL now.

Sounds exciting to try something new. It looks like a beautiful phone and is fast.

What do you think of Android 7.1 all together?

Jon, I thought the seamless updates were not available for older devices (older than Pixels) as to enable it the disk partitions needed to be changed/re-done, something I thought was avoided as there is a high risk of bricking?

There are rumours that Samsung will drop the Galaxy name completely and rebrand their phones.

Still waiting for the update on my 6P, was yours OTA?

Went from the Note 5 to 6P a month ago, was a great choice I much prefer the 6P!

It's beta. Opt in at g.co/androidbeta

I would say it's fairly stable given the fact it's final on the Pixel.

After being out of the area for a few days, I finally picked up my S7 Edge yesterday evening and while it seems strange using a phone slightly smaller than the Note, I am really liking the phone & will see how I get on with it over the next few days with proper usage, especially now that all my Apps & Spotify playlists have been downloaded.

Similar here. So far really quite enjoying my S7 edge. It's well known how much I was bemoaning the loss of the S pen but getting on OK as the S7 edge is very use able.

Still going to keep my mighty note 2 running for some certain tasks. Can't keep that phone down it has too much Hart.

Looks like Samsung are offering half price S8 or Note 8 for customers in South Korea.

You will probably get the S8 for half price but will have to fly to Korea to pick up the phone.

You mean they won't pay the flight?!

I do hope they'll offer people a discount but don't know how they'll do it to avoid abuse. Like giving a voucher code that people will inevitably sell on, or will use to get a phone and sell on.

This Xiaomi Mi Mix bezel-less phone looks like a good alternative to the Galaxy Note 7 :

General blacklisting of Note 7's begins, starting in New Zealand.

Quote:
“It seems some people really can’t take a hint. Despite the fact that the Note 7 is considered so dangerous it’s a criminal offence to take one on board a U.S. aircraft, some owners are still refusing to return them. After Samsung limited charging rates, several carriers are now upping the ante by remotely blocking the device from connecting to mobile networks …

Stuff reports that all carriers in New Zealand will block the devices from November 18. The move is being made with Samsung’s agreement, and it’s likely that other countries will follow suit.

Frankly, anyone not returning one at this point needs to be considered a Darwin Awards candidate …”
