Reading further into this debacle it appears the impetus for the initial rushed release of the Note 7 is that Samsung executives had been made aware that this years iPhone launch would have little in the way of innovation or new design.
They saw this as an opportunity to leap frog Apple and come up with something really innovative and special, so pressurised all concerned to work round the clock to get it to market first. It appears in doing so mistakes were made and not recognised until it was too late. Information comes from article published by Bloomberg. |

It would be utter madness to use this phone now. If something happened you would be fully culpable.
I should imagine airlines will now refuse to fly them at all! |

It's obviously something customers are doing which is triggering it unless it would be happening to every single device.
Unless Samsung have seen a x-ray exploding of the note 7 battery in real time slow moed they can't really 100% say what the issue is they can speculate it's something to do with the cells within the battery etc but until they see these cells exploding someone here mentioned that the battery is pinched but like I said above if it was a manufacturing problem millions of devices would of exploded. If it's a device design problem more devices would of exploded Also the person who said the battery was pinched and too big, I was driving the other day and the device went straight against my door because I turned and it slid quite hard if the battery was pinched by the design shouldn't the device of just exploded then ? Surely the fact is you now know that some type of movement to the phone chassis can pinch the battery and trigger a fire. Thus, you don't want to keep it on your body at any time and probably not on anything flammable. Get rid of it. Surely you have another device you can use in the meantime? |

Although this is a disaster for Samsung, it's given all manufacturers something to think about!!

This may have a detrimental effect on all future Samsung phone releases if consumers have now lost faith in their products.

Apparently Samsung have permanently discontinued production of the Galaxy 7, this will cost them dearly.

With say no-name (or 'little known name here') phones from China, one doesn't have the same assurance that there'd be be anything done about an issue, indeed there's no assurance any issue would necessarily be identified in the first place. On the bigger picture, there's been concern about mobile devices (of all sorts - phones, tablets, laptops etc) with lithium-ion batteries for a while now. I think this will make manufacturers that bit more careful about the design and safety of their devices, and perhaps make regulators that bit more ready to investigate and intervene. |

I guess Samsung could remotely disable all Note 7's after so much time has passed or flash a message on screen telling you to return it.
At any rate this is a poor start for the Note 7 after the Note 5 wasn't released in the EU. Its always been seen as a niche product over here. I find media comparisons to the iPhone 7 just silly. Its more comparable to a iPhone 7 Plus. But its a market Samsung were happy to ignore over here at any rate. http://www.techtimes.com/articles/13...-to-europe.htm |

Well I posted earlier that my workplace is full of Samsung Galaxy S class users. They don't seem particularly bothered by this story. I think it's seen as a Note thing rather than a general Samsung thing.
What annoyes me more than anything else is that I don't like any other smart phones. It is all about the S pen for me. There is no equivalent to the note. In six months time or whatever samsung will launch a new note phone but I won't be due an upgrade. |

Sales in the UK and most of Europe of the old Note models were low anyway.
The only reason we got the Note 7 this time around was because the S7e already had a bigger screen so there was not going to be a S7e+. Samsung figured it could try and shift a few here, and I bet it is regretting that now. If it hadn't, the problem would have seemed more distant and less of an issue here. |

Why not? What rule says you have to upgrade now and not in 6 months?
When the note 7 came out I thought great I'll early adopt and pre order a phone for the first time. Now even if a new note comes out I won't be able to get it. So I am stuck for two years with a phone I don't want. |

I've already upgraded to get the note 7 so I am now on a new contract. I waited to upgrade because I didn't see the point of the note 4 when the note five was swimming around other markets so I just waited for the next note.
