I would say that when the Galaxy S8 and S8 edge come out next year, there will be potential problems convincing people that they're safe. Meanwhile the S7 and S7 edge are just fine.

Nah in all seriousness the amount of phones that have exploded are so small and the chances of it happening are obviously thin, i will be speaking to Samsung and i will request I keep the phone until a S8 Edge or as someone said a S8 pro comes out to replace it with as I feel a s7 edge will be a downgrade.

They'll never allow it in a million years, the public liability issues alone would preclude it, not to mention the phone has been officially discontinued and recalled by Samsung head office..

At the end of the day it's up to me it's my product if I give it back or not, and samsung state they want to keep customers happy. That seems like a fair deal tbh, even if I use a £50 cheap android phone in the mean time and power down the note7, and return it when a new phone comes out. Customers won't be happy trading in a expensive note7 for a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, when the note7 is far more superior.

I'll speak with Head Office and come up with some sort of arrangement when the time comes.

It's a global recall, you really think Samsung are going to make some sort of exception for a certain Mr Wilson, simply because you prioritise your user experience over your own and others safety?

Good luck with that. Nobody from Samsung is going to say that's okay. I am sure they can't physically come to your home and take it from you, but I am sure that they'll start to disable phones over the air at some point.

Google could also assist in the short term by removing apps downloaded via the Play store from your device, stopping Google Apps from working, making all new apps unavailable.

Another option will be that networks bar the phone by IMEI, so you'll end up with something usable only on Wi-Fi.

Get the idea? If you don't give it up, it's going to become a very expensive (yet worthless) paperweight.

Ultimately, a company can simply refund and you have little to no power to stop that happening. That will end the contract, so you will not be able to demand anything else.

Nor do you need to accept another phone. I'm sure a refund is being offered by everyone isn't it?

Just opt for a refund? No one is forcing a gun to your head that you must either keep your Note 7 or exchange for a S7e.

This is the problem, Now we're getting into another issue... I purchased my Samsung Galaxy Note7 from a Hong Kong retailer which was shipping devices from Taiwan, I purchased a oversea model because I wanted dual sim capabilities, it was a effected model and contacted the seller and they put to me on the RMA ticket ;

"Thank you for submitting case.

You may ask local Samsung shop to exchange the item to you as announced by them.

You could inform them the item was brought by your friend from overseas is okay.

Please try it and thank you for your help."

So obviously I wasn't happy and moaned at Samsung UK who then sent me out a replacement, I won't get a refund from Samsung UK as I didn't purchase the product from them and the seller is as much use as a Baked Potato.

The payment provider was called "WorldPay" they have advised me to go to my bank which is Halifax to dispute the payment if the seller isn't helping.

Your only option is getting rid of the phone and getting a replacement.

Now if Samsung is going to refund all of its sellers, and creates a way to notify them that your phone was returned to them - you should be able to get your money back without even having to ship the phone back to Taiwan (saving shipping - which in itself will be tricky right now as I doubt many carriers would even carry it - for you and them).

It's a bit of a mess. I know someone else who got the dual SIM one via Dubai and should ask him what he is doing. I think he may too have had a replacement already.

It's a mess, but for the time being I'd still say stop using it. And maybe consider the S7 edge, especially as the new software update should make it function just like the Note 7, obviously without S Pen features.

There's another issue though the replacement phone is a UK model and it's a completely different colour phone as they didn't offer me "Gold" and they will never accept it because it's not the product which they sent me.

I'd be interested to know what your friend did in this situation - if you can find out.

Somebody at Samsung was clearly under a lot of pressure to produce this phone, so much that it was better to ship a faulty phone than admit it wasn't ready for production.

My advice would be to put it in the garden and throw stones at it until it blows up. Always worked for me with other stuff like bombs and that. Hope that helps.
