From seeing old clips when Kylie first arrived in Coronation street, she seemed like a right bitch! Even I wasn't keen on her in those clips but now I love her, she's my fav character! She seemed kinda evil
![]() Anyway she went from sneaky, thieving, complete bitch to feisty but caring mum. She's always been witty tho that's never changed

Billy Mitchell, he was a nasty piece of work who abused his nephew who was in his care. He is still a bit of a low life, but has held a steady job for a few years now and does seem to genuinely care for his own children and grandchildren.

I still maintain that Sally has always had delusions of grandeur in some way or another, whether that's openly trying to improve herself and her family or being quick to try and silence people who think that she is common. In her first episode in 1986, Sally compares Hilda's house to her own family home, pointing out that Hilda has wallpaper whereas her parents don't. From the outset she is shown to want more for herself. In the same episode she is quick to jump on Hilda when she comments that Sally is from a rough part of town. Sally hits back: "We can't all live in Tatton Hall, can we?".
The problem was that Sally had two awkward periods in the 90s and early 00s that changed perceptions of the character. From about 1993 - 1997 she was a drudge of a housewife to Kevin, always fussing about the girls, telling them to wash their hands and serving up fish fingers. She had some brief involvement in stories that saw her start working for Mike Baldwin in his factory and wanting to progress to management but they fizzled out in the run up to Kevin's affair with Natalie. 1997-99 were vintage years for Sally, with Kevin's affair and the breakdown of their marriage and, later, her involvement with Greg Kelly. This was underpinned by her working for Mike Baldwin at the factory and taking on a more senior position, which allowed Greg to manipulate her into helping with his schemes to ruin Mike by stealing business contacts. Then, from about 1999 - 2001 Sally lost her way again by being given jobs that just didn't fit the character at all. At first she became a market stall trader and then went on to open a hardware shop. Both of these periods didn't fit with the character one bit. From 2001 onwards, after she was reunited with Kevin, the 'original' Sally started to reappear and that's when the character we see today started to really develop. Disappointingly, her social climbing traits have become much more simplified over the past 3 or 4 years which has turned her into a very one dimensional caricature. |

Todd in Corrie came back from London a completely different person.
He's since reverted back to his old personality almost with a poor explanation for the change. |

Martin Fowler - Not at all similar to the personality the character had in 1985.

Bethany in Corrie. Was loud, aggressive and rude to just about everyone when she arrived and for months afterwards.
Now she's quiet, sensitive and thoughtful......it's like two completely different people. |

Definitely Kylie..Didn't like her at all when she first arrived but she was definitely one of my favourite characters in recent years. She was a bit of a bitch from what I can vaguely remember when she was first arrived but it was explained why and she changed when she was welcomed by David and Gail into their house. I remember there was an emotional conversation between herself and Gail (I remember because it came up on my 'suggested videos' page the other day) and Kylie was telling Gail her fears...I think that conversation marked the start of when she started to change. Obviously David too but think he'll go off the rails now again!
I actually think Becky had a similar character change..going from being a bit of a bitch to a loveable character |

Sinead in Corrie, started as an interesting, feisty character and turned into a whiney drip. I'm not a fan of Chez, but he'd be much better off with Gemma, another character who seems to have changed quite a bit since she was first around.

Leanne used to be a lot more feisty and naughty. Steve McDonald was also more of a bad boy not a comedy character.

H&A Roo - one of the strangest recastings ever. Forget the physical differences of the new actress. She is nothing like the original essence of the character.

Billy Mitchell used to beat the living everything out of Jamie back in the day.

![]() . To be fair the original Roo left almost 30 years ago so it is more likely that returning as an adult she would have changed..

Emmerdale's Nicola started out as a polite, likeable person, who was a pal of meek Emily Dingle-Kirk.
She became a bitchy, sarcastic, hard-faced character when her then fella, Carlos, shagged her sister, and has remained that way ever since. |

Now, apart from her recent one night stand, butter wouldn't melt |

Another one is Tim - the Tim that originally starred as Faye's dad was nothing like the comedy character we have today
Talking of faye - where is she? |
