Matt Strevens will be an Executive Producer alongside Chris Chibnall, announced by The BBC on Twitter. I get the feeling we're in for some great adventures in 2018

You can't really judge an executive producer much from past shows he's worked on, because their creative control is mostly limited to an advisory role, but I'm not impressed with his work, which seems mostly to consist of the dreaded soap operas. I hope we're not going back to that style of storytelling.

You pretty much summed it up with your 1st line. An executive is only creative in the broadest, most universally applicable sense. He just needs to handle the practical side of things. Creative is the showrunner's job. As such I don't think it makes much difference who is exec as long as they have a good working relationship with the showrunner (ie not Caroline Skinner
