My God the Soaps are boring right now...

Is it because it's Summer?

Highlight of EastEnders tonight was Kush' s hot legs and that was all!

I'd like to see Coronation Street start to take a summer hiatus like some of the US and Aussie soaps.

The show just can't sustain 12 months of 'stuff'.

I agree - I think it would refresh the soaps and keep them "fresh" throughout.

The US soaps don't take a hiatus. Days of Lives will probably be preempted for Olympic Coverage on NBC but that's as far as it goes.

I have to disagree with the OP, Hollyoaks has been anything but dull, Emmerdale was the best its been in weeks last night and Coronation Street will be anything but boring tomorrow.

No worries, you were probably thinking of the prime time soaps like Dallas and Knots Lading. They took hiatuses in the summer like all the prime time shows do, but the daytime daily soaps take no breaks.

Emmerdale and Home and Away are brilliant at the moment - both are the best they've been for ages.

Doctors is off air for three months at the moment due to sports scheduling, and also it does have breaks during the year for Bank Holidays or Wimbledon fortnight. We are chomping at the bit awaiting its return to follow up on the aftermath of a story which came to its conclusion just before the break started. Absence does make the heart grow fonder in Letherbridge!!

I am enjoying the more low key stories at the moment. Makes a nice change to not have really heavy stories to keep up with. Easy viewing.

I would hardly class Corrie as boring at the moment!!

Having said that, I forgot, Kylie's a young character so I guess you probably think it's time she was axed!!!

OP - I only watch Emmerdale which personally I think is on fire at the moment. 2 of their best actors getting some really good stuff. I'm finding it really good at the minute.

I actually enjoyed EE last night, it was nice to see the young adult crowd back together. I don't mind 'filler' episodes if they include a bit of character development, and I think that's what we've seen this week generally. It's been far more enjoyable to me than last week's farce.

CS is not as bad as it has been (especially with Kylie's death coming) and I'm finding EE really enjoyable (but then I always do ). Next week's EE should be REALLY good.
