Is at as good as Jason says it is?

He is obsessed

I'm a butter, dash of milk and herbs man myself, and I don't generally go for salad cream full stop, but I'm intrigued now. My father used to love it liberally applied to chunks of finest cheddar.

Any insights most welcome

I put some horseradish in, or some mustard.

I personally always put sugar in mine, and it's delicious Bit of butter, milk and sugar and I'm sorted.

Never tried it.

I'm repulsed!

Is it a London thing, perhaps their version of the Northern culinary abomination that is chips and gravy?

Good suggestions, horseradish mash is very popular and I see the appeal, though the stuff isn't for me really.

Mustard is great, but nothing else? No herbs or at least a knob of butter?

Never heard of putting salad cream in your mash.

I like you are the same but with a little garlic mashed in especially with a bit of cheddar, I have never put salad cream in my Tatties but might try it

Indeed. The horseradish/mustard is in addition to the normal ingredients.

That's very gordon bleugh. Nearly as classy as tinned tomatoes on toast.

It's most definitely not 'a London thing'

Chips and gravy sounds alright though - I'd try it once (we do have e.g. chips in a pitta with chilli sauce here, nice if you also get the salad)

Might try it with a salad. But think I will give it a miss with gravy.

Salad cream is too sweet. Mayonnaise would be better.

I love savoury potatoes with butter, dash of milk, garlic, spring onion, and a pinch of spice of choice (chilli, paprika, cayenne pepper etc).
