Unfortunately Ryan stuck his nose in and backed-up Alex's lie. Alex didn't mention £20K, he just said he would take money from the prize fund.

You mean Alex said he wouldn't take the money?

Ryan was even more annoying than usual - Hughie was definitely in the right.

The only thing is... didn't Hughie press the button to try try to win the £20K the day before? Now he says he only wants to earn it.

He did say £20K. They showed it.

If hughie was alright with taking 20grand from the winner & also having to evict someone I don't understand how he can have a go at Alex for taking 5grand but not having to evict anyone. I think hughie realized pushing the button made him look bad so he decided to copy Jackson say he would have shared it. Now hughie has done a complete U turn & says he wants to earn it but he wasn't thinking that when 20grand was in front of him.

I think Alex & Ryan are right they weren't comfortable pushing the button & taking 20grand & then having to evict someone aswell on top. They knew that is alot of money to take from the winner & also they didn't want to take someone else's place away. I would trust them alot more over hughie who wanted 20grand & was happy to evict someone.

The whole point is what amount of money would he have taken? 15k? 10k? All he said was I wouldn't have taken 20k, if he took 19k he would not be a liar the point is the principles not the amount of money

The 20k and the 5k decisions were completely different scenarios.

The 20k was for just one person to the exclusion of others and represented a large share of the prize fund, plus someone had to be evicted. And I still don't think Jason did anything wrong pressing that button, given his circumstance.

The 5k was on offer to everyone, and everyone could have taken a fair share. I have no doubt neither Alex nor Jackson would have taken the money if they knew it was just two people. Jackson got confirmation there was no catch or consequence to the decision. It was 5k, no catch and everyone could take their share. Given that decision as presented, I'd question anyone other than Jason who didn't choose rich.

They showed one instance where he didn't say it. That doesn't mean he didn't mention the figure in another instance. He also didn't need to mention the figure as the context was one person taking a large chunk of the prize pool to the exclusion of others.

BB showed the public the conversation about the 20k, Alex did NOT say 20k.

And? Why would he need to? It was implied in the context of the conversation shown. There could also have been plenty of instances where he did mention the figure. We're at the mercy of editorial decisions.

I'm an editor. I could easily have edited out the words even if he had spoken them in the conversation shown.

So let's just pretend something happened that noone has been shown instead? Great idea.

I'm going to support Jason now because he might have said he is giving all the money to charity. We don't know if he said it but the editor could have removed all mention of it.

They question is:

At what point between 5k and 20k would he decide to take the money?

Alex is a man of high principles and moral courage, if he was working in your shop he'd only steal items worth less than £20, he has boundaries you know

It's hard to tell without subtitles. On second thought I'm happy he kept his mouth shut for 5 weeks

What a load of bollocks! Everlyn called it right, if you are going to take it take it. Don't then pretend you made a mistake. Don't cry about it or make silly excuses.

What a woman!

It's my view too. If you take it, own it don't back track. That's how I would do it. Jason did it that way. And Andy also said that is the way do it, if you're going to do it.

No, Alex did not mention £20,000. I've just watched the bit where they showed the footage and Alex did not say £20,000. It was Hughie that said £20,000.

Yes, that's the context because Alex was going on about the principle (Jason's lack of) of taking money from the winners prize pool. That's why Hughie pulled him up for taking money out the prize pool, but Alex then claimed that he was only complaining about the principle of taking 20k.
