Haven't seen this mentioned so thought I would give people a heads up. As part of BBC Proms this year there is going to be a special Strictly night featuring many of the Pros including Joanne and Janette. Katie Derham is presenting as well as dancing and music comes from the BBC Concert Orchestra.

Billed as being a real celebration of classic dances it looks good. Not sure if any tickets for the event are left but it is actually being filmed on Thursday 21st so if you are really fast you may still be able to get there in person

Just a few tickets left when I just looked, 2 in the Stalls and 27 in the Rausing Circle.

I go to the proms every year and when it started selling I thought of going but the ticket price was above some other proms, so I decided to buy tickets to two other proms that were cheaper. It ended up being two for the price of one, literally. I'm sure they'll show it on TV so we'll be able to watch it nevertheless.

Not sure exactly what is involved, but apparently one of the Prom concerts is based around Strictly, with some of the Strictly pros taking part.

If anyone's interested, it's on Friday 22nd July, 8.30 pm. on BBC2.

Anton's on holiday so won't be around according to a piece in the Saturday magazine with the Daily Express.

She's dancing with Aljaz instead. Other dancers appearing are Janette (obviously as Aljaz is there), Team Clifton (all of them, Kevin, Karen and Joanne) and Giovanni.

Thanks for the heads up!
Funnily enough, I'm going to the CBBC Ten Pieces Prom this Saturday with my son; Prom overload weekend it is then.

With Jason Gilkison Choreography. Although this has received rave reviews, I am just a bit bored with this core group of dancers/choreographer that represent Strictly all the time.

They are Strictly, and no-one else gets a look in.

I agree with this. Where are Natalie, Pasha, Oti, Brendan etc? Why not use it to introduce the new pros?

It's not hard to see why people think there is a Clifton clique on Strictly.

Why can't the likes of Natalie, Pasha, Oti etc. be used instead of the same ones. I like the Cliftons but they are a bit full on, but I find Janette annoying.

Well, I saw the Strictly Prom last night and thought it was fabulous! The Cliftons were all great particularly Joanne who did a couple of gorgeous dances with Giovanni. The reason that Joanne in particular is used is quite simply because she's so incredibly talented. A great performer as well as a great dancer. Shame she has been rather wasted on Strictly the last couple of years. Kevin and Karen were excellent as well and it was obvious the audience loved them. Janette and Aljaz were great too and did a beautiful rumba as well as a cheeky charleston.

Anyway you can watch it tonight and make up your own minds.

I attended the Prom last night, it was a brilliant night with great music and amazing dancing.
All the dances were engaging and entertaining, the show was fast pace and the production was lovely.

I particularly liked Kevin and Karen's Paso Doble, as well as some of the group numbers, but my favorite of the night was Aljaz and Janette's Rumba, it was absolutely breathtaking and it brought tears to my eyes as it did to many others. If they do it again next year, I will be there for sure.

Natalie busy with her tour with Ian

But the main reason is nothing more sinister than these are the only dance COUPLES on the show - all the others do not have a permanent dance partner on the show

That's fair enough. I'm not bashing the Clifton's by the way, especially not Joanne who is fabulous.

Bet there will be some who have a go at them though, when doing choreography makes the job so much easier when you have couples who dance together as a partnership - from the people I know who were there the show is very good - so looking forward to it

I think I'd have gone just to see Joanne do her thing. A world champ in anything is always worth a look

I'm not the biggest fan of Kevin's - or Karen's - dancing on the show ... just a personal thing ... but it would have been interesting to see them dance 'properly' if you see what I mean and see if I like that any better.
