I am enjoying it so far. Such a relief after the rubbish TV of late.

Oti was in all of three episodes of one series. She's not going to get opportunities like this until she's been a bit more visible as part of the main show and is more readily associated with the brand, the same with the new pros, who people don't know from Adam. Natalie's got plenty of promotion outside of the show recently (Celeb Masterchef, People's Strictly on which she was all but given the winner on a silver platter), and surely we're not arguing we've not seen enough of BRENDA over the years?

This is a great idea.
Lovely to see them dancing to an orchestra - must be a thrill for them, too. Have I missed Janette and Aljaž's rumba? (started watching with Katie's VW) ETA: Oh, here we go |

I really liked the tango that Joanne and Gio did. Very emotive and passionate.
![]() The rumba was probably my least favourite. Just not a fan of the contemporary dance style rumbas which are quite fashionable on strictly. Janette did some heel leads too but I guess it was part of the contemporary vibe? I just find it distracting... if it hadn't been introduced as a rumba i would have enjoyed it more I think. I hope they do one next year! I would love to see a vw to the waltz from swan lake.

For those who wondered about Natalie, at the moment she's actually doing a Strictly cruise with Ian Waite. Even if she had been available the only person she could have danced with would have been Anton (who's on holiday) or Aljaz, who, of course comes as a package with Janette. As for Pasha and Brendan - a bit past their best IMO (especially Brendan).
I thought the three couples did a fantastic job and I hope they do this again next year. |

Lovely to see them dancing to an orchestra - must be a thrill for them, too. .... Katie D seemed to love every second - and looked so relieved when it went well. Have read that Jason G choreographed the show - why can't he do more of this style on on Strictly? The Kevin of the Susanna Paso suddenly made a re-appearance, but with a professional dancer obviously. Didn't like the music though for this bit. Interesting how the conductor explained how it fitted together. Joanne showed just how good she is - pity Strictly doesn't make more use of her ballroom dance skills. Such a good partnership with Giovanni. Can see why her back might hurt as she leans back so far and whips upright so quickly. Janette and Alijaz's Rumba was beautiful. The dancers seemed to have had a great time and the orchestra and Katie D - and the audience

I think it would be pushing it a bit to do rehearsals for the cruise and for the Prom. No doubt they rehearsed the Proms thoroughly as the timing was so tight.

Joanne and Giovanni were sublime. I loved the concert, but particularly their contribution.

All the pros were brilliant but Joanne is exquisite and in a league of her own in the ballroom dances. She translates each piece of music in to movement perfectly. Her Waltz with Giovanni was beautiful and their Tango was my favourite dance of the night, fantastic storytelling with drama and passion.
I do think it was a shame Natalie and Ian didn't perform some of the ballroom alongside them. I also particularly enjoyed the Charleston and Karen and Kevin's Paso. Wasn't Katie fabulous. Of course I wouldn't have seen Helen paired with anyone else but Katie and Aljaz did make a good couple on the dancefloor. I wonder what he would have created for her on the show. The Orchestra were sublime, so many favourite pieces of music and every one made me want to dance. I hope Strictly goes to the Proms again, this was a perfect fit and I'll watch the performances many more times. |

I think they were in full rehearsals for a week for the prom going by all the tweets from Jason Gilkison.

Haven't seen the programme yet, but it looks as though I'm in for a treat.
![]() Some iconic programmes such as Doctor Who and Sherlock have been represented at the Proms in recent years, so it feels like a great accolade that Strictly has also been recognised in this way. |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyyVAEYdUy4 It is a shame we don't get to see more dances like these in the actual series, The orchestra and the dancers came together and gave us a brilliant show. |
