Alcatel OneTouch 20.45X accessing the internet
I just bought one of these cheap things because it's what my wife wants, a simple mobile that does a bit on internet. We can't get it to connect, there are zero instructions in the box, and the only info on the website is a digital copy of the unhelpful leaflet from the box. The only mention of internet settings is "If you can't access the internet, check the internet settings." without any clue as to how to change them.
My network won't answer mobile support calls over the weekend, and neither do Alacatel. Has anyone had any joy setting up the internet on this device? |

Who is your network provider?
They have the actual settings on the website but I can't find how to get them into the phone. The 20.45X isn't one of the models that they can send the settings out automatically for. |

Go to 'Menu' -> 'Settings' -> 'Connectivity' -> 'Data Accounts'. When in 'Data Accounts', goto 'Options' -> 'Add PS Account' Enter the settings as given on the Co-op page, and see if you can access the web once everything has been saved. |

Also, in the 'Connectivity' section, goto 'Data Service' and make sure it is 'On'.

Ah, thanks, tried that, clicking on "Data Accounts" gives me "Data Account is not ready". I assumed the setting was somewhere else
![]() I agree about the scant instructions for this phone. Alcatel could have produced a more detailed instruction manual. |

Ok. I've got this phone and I'm on the 3 network. After I'd set it up manually, I remember getting a few texts from 3 with the account settings, and it was then correctly set up for me.

Have you tried this page? It's the Co-op mobile device selection.
http://phonecoopsc.wds.co/find_phone Goto, 'Can't find your device and need Internet Settings?' on the top right and select 'Click Here'. When the next page comes up, type in 'Alcatel One Touch 2035X' and tick the checkboxes you require on the next page. |

I tried lots of Alcatel models on the coop website, the phone gives me an "invalid settings" message when I try all of them. Does that mean it is broken?
Huh- it does Facebook and Twitter but not something as basic as email? What's in the apps store? It's frustrating that it says there is an apps store, but you can't find out what's in it until you're in it. |

As far as the Apps store is concerned, it's mainly games and some wallpapers and they cost £1.50 each. |

Have a look at this forum page from EE and try some of the settings on there.
https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/EE-Mob...highlight/true On the last page there is a link to 'The EE Setup Pages.' If this doesn't work, then the only thing I can suggest is to go to the support pages of Co-op mobile and Alcatel, and raise a ticket. I don't have access to the sim but that looks like the page on the coop site.

If all else fails, it may be a case of getting a new feature phone and perhaps going onto another network. Maybe you could try '3'. I'm on the basic PAYG - 3p/min, 2p/text and 1p/MB. |

Have you tried a 'hard reset' on the phone and then had a go at re-entering the settings again?

Alcatel recon the retailer oversold the phone, well they didn't as the info on it they had was poor, and that is not their fault. I bought it based on there being a twitter app, facebook and an app store, and falsely assumed these things must work acceptably so therefore it should do the basic thing of email. My "feature" phone of 10 years back could do it, so a more modern one should be better. Eh? This is presented as more than a simple text and speak phone, if the features don't work, they should not be there to make you believe you are buying better than you are. The budget end of the sim-free mobile phone market seems to have dissapeared recently, whenever we try and buy one it is out of stock. |

If the social networking apps weren't available, then Alcatel should have updated the manual to reflect that. Not very good on their part. You could try GSM Arena's or Phone Finder's phone search tool to find phones, just to see what's out there. To be honest my main source of info has been here and the icons on the box! I took it back and got a refund. Will check those links out thanks for your help!
The Alcatel 20.45x does not do 3G internet, only 2G. |
