Changes for next year
Ryan_Abbott1
17-07-2016
These are the changes I would make or would like to see made for next year's series:

Lower the age limit to 16 for applicants
Increase the show's lenght to over 100 days.
More housemates! Maybe 24-26 in total (including late arrivals)
Choose better housemates! With more personality, fire and character.
If you're going to punish the housemates then punish them properly, don't give in after a few hours - make them suffer.
Harder tasks - make them sweat and work for their luxury shopping budget and luxuries.
Make the show even more cruel, strip it back to basic. Make it restricted and uncomfortable for the housemates.
Spice up the nominations a bit more. More face-to-face nominations and trick the housemates one time. Everyone who is up for eviction is actually safe and everyone who wasn't up for eviction now is!
Don't select housemates because they've been in the limelight or have had media attention that's unfair to all the 'ordinary' folk applying because they don't stand a chance.
Launch night face-to-face nominations lead to double eviction shocker on the first night.
Be ruthless, brutal and evil! And make sure you stick to it!
If rules are broken, housemates must then face eviction - no ifs, no buts.

DO NOT bring back The Other house unless you do something more interesting with it because it was a failure this year!

What about selecting a bunch of former housemates from across all the previous series' and putting them into the Other house without the new housemates knowing. Run the two house alongside each other for two weeks without any communication with each other or knowledge of each other's existence and then do a Big Brother: The Switchover episode.

The main housemates vote which former housemates they want to join them in the main house, but in order for them to transfer to the main house; the main housemates must sacrifice three or four of their own.

The past housemates who don't make it into the main house then remain in the Other house until the next week's eviction and they evict one or two of the previous housemates who enter the main house and steal their places inside the main house.

Please feel free to add your comments and suggestions...

OK so we fundamentally disagree on absolutely everyone one of your issues (bar one).

But make them interesting human beings with plenty of life experience. Make the average housemate 30.
Stop all the contrivances that manipulate the show.
Return the nominations to diary room ONLY.
Don't select ANY housemates because they've been in the limelight or have had media attention. No one with an agent should be allowed entry to the civilian BB.”

i doubt c5 will be making any major changes as the show is doing fine...

it is clearly hitting its target audience...
have a look at the quality of the adverts during the breaks... if it was failing to do well ini it's target audience the adverts would be all "cheap adverts" not quality brands (remember the total viewing figures are irrelevant, it is the breakdown demographics not the total that matters on commercial tv... more viewers if of the wrong ones are not good for them)

boots, ikea, veet etc...
all quality advertisers, and when added to the other adverts all clearly aimed squarely at a young largely female audience... if you are not young and female then you might well be thinking the show as it is is not how you like it... and you might be right, it isnt targeted at you.

if however c5 decide to go for a different audience then may be changes will happen..
but the appetite is for "love island" and the sort of pap itv2 and mtv churn out... and as long as there is a long list of potential housemates from the dozens of "never got past the pilot" towie type shows to pick from then the current viewers appetite can be feed by another bb like this one... but "tweaked" again as it "evolves" to fit a commercial demand (as ive said for 4 years on here)

as emma said... this is the 17th year.. and the show continues to evolve... effectivelty telling the "purist" to get over it!
who, me?

I like your idea of putting former housemates into the Other house.

Firstly and most importantly just have 'normal' people. I don't want to see perfect looking z list wannabe celebrities. I want the average joe - builders, cleaners, stay at home mums, hairdressers etc..
Secondly go back to basics - no mind games, nominations and evictions that are just that - nothing more nothing less, absolutely no feedback from the outside world except eviction nights when they hear the crowds, twists, only diary room nominations like the old days. Oh and bring back growing veg and looking after chickens.

That is it.

The first one will never happen. 🙄
They wouldn't be able to serve alcohol in the house.
BB loves plying HMs with alcohol as it's the only time the youngsters comes to life, they need footage for the HL show.

I would like to see a house full of folks aged over 30. I think the older ones bring more to the table; intellectually and in life experience. I do get fed up of watching conversations about 'farts and cock-dribble.'

Not just that any footage off them in the shower- toilet or anywhere where they are seen naked would be classed as child porn even if not aired if they had it on tape (And all camera film everything) it would be illegal.

Something called 'live feed', 24/7.

I'd personally love the show to last over 100 days etc, that way the relationships in the house could evolve naturally. But it would never happen as the attention span for a lot of viewers these days is non existent.

This year's though is definitely too short, another couple of weeks would be perfect.

Yes. It was the unique selling point of BB. This series would have been great with live feed.

Cut down the luxuries. I say this nearly every year but i want the show to go back to basics. They go OTT on parties and take aways. They spoil them too much. They may as well put a tv and a laptop in their because they make them feel too comfortable and relaxed.

Stop adding former reality stars. The likes of Lateysha and Georgina know how reality tv works, therefore they likely orchestrated some of their behaviour during their time on BB. Put people in who are normal everyday people who haven't got a clue how to act in front of a camera.

I don't think that there will be a BB next year.

1. Remove the weighting towards the majority being in the 18-30 age range and represent the 18-60+ range more evenly.
2. Exclude anyone who has any previous claim to fame and try to achieve a spectrum of different backgrounds.
3. Re-introduce live feed 24/7.
4. Get rid of the stupid tasks involving fish guts and similar.
5. Avoid focussing on showmances.

I have enjoyed the fact that though there have been divisions it hasn't come across as a toxic atmosphere. I used to get irritated by the quasi-Zeleb status of HMs in recent years but it bothers me less this year. Though some have got on my wick Ryan especially. I have enjoyed the more challenging of the tasks and twists this time. Like the older HMs too.

I like what Australia BB did one year with the Nominations Superpower. Each week there was a challenge and the winner got the superpower. And every week it would let them do one thing to change the nominations - like annulling one HM's vote, learning the noms totals before they nommed, etc. That type of system could spice things up!

Fire the entire production team.

Hire the Australian production team.

Have substitutes on standby. when someone says 'I want to go' or threatens to walk then kick them out, no discussion, and bring in a substitute.

The biggest bunch of dullards I have ever seen in the BB house. I don't think anything that BB would have thrown at them would have made them more interesting. The only chance they had with that lot was getting them pissed every night....and I'm not even sure if that would work.

I don't like the idea of a housemate being able to evict another housemate as inevitably they vote out the favourite who is usually the strongest personality. Makes the house a lot less interesting. Needs to get back to the public vote only.

I think that the civilian BB ship has sailed.

Reducing BB17 to just 50 days is very telling.

It barely left the starting blocks and was doomed the minute the twist was blown.

Annihilation and the early finale announcement was the kiss of death. Channel 5 robbed us of a potentially great series, they are a consistent let down and the show will soon pay the price, I'm certain of that. They can't really do much more other than go to back to basics, there are no other options left. Either that, or have an older house that offers interesting individuals and intelligent conversation, not a group of shallow, sex-obsessed, unintelligent p***heads. The house's location should change too and more of an effort made to make it habitually uncomfortable, BB5 style. Channel 5 just can't seem to be arsed other than splashing it with garish colours and neon lights. Cheap.

I actually disagree with the entire OP. The reason the show has been so good this year was because all of the opposite things were done imo. Good older cast, no late entrants, relatively normal noms/eviction process most weeks etc... I would do broadly the same next year. The show has been great and critically well received outside of the wail chamber that is DS.
