Has annihilation week shown that a BB USA format could work?

I feel like annihilation has been great and it seems like a lot of people have also enjoyed this aspect of the game.

I was never sure but I think now a BB USA format could work. obviously done in a less formal and more fun and British way but I think it could get BB more ratings now,

I think maybe more in line with BB CANADA would be good.

I liked it more than I thought I would - but only because it worked out well for me with regard to who left and who I do and don't like. Also because it was a one-off rather than how the whole show was played, I'd find it tedious if it were like that all the time.

I prefer Big Brother the way it's always been - 'who goes, you decide' and all of that. If I wanted it to be like the US version I'd watch that, which seems so far from Big Brother that I'm surprised it's still called that!

i actually much prefer the usa format, it's far more interesting and the winner is never obvious from day one. i find it alot more entertaining as things change day to day and it's far more strategic and gamey.

The best part of the week for me by far was the Ryan eviction....which the public vote played a big part in.

I wouldn't have a problem with BB doing that more often i.e. flipping it so that the public nominate and the HMs vote out. Provided BB organises it properly, of course.

Couldn't agree more. It's a shame BB UK can't do a spin-off show called Big Brother: The Game Show or something, so we get the best of both worlds.

There's one big problem, the entertainers get evicted first if this week was an example to go by. BB must be kicking themselves.

We'd just be left with the likes of Alex, Sam and Jason.

The thing is if it wasn't for Jason it would have probably been a bit of a flop with the more predictable easy choice housemates going.

that's not how it works at all. the best housemates are the best gameplayers, whether they are likeable or not. the likes of alex and same are called "floaters" and are usually evicted pretty quickly leaving the better players to stay in the game.

I do not like the American/Canadian format. I like that we as the audience have an input in the fate of the housemates. There is not nearly the suspense or surprises in the US/CAN BB. The shock/horror of Helen Wood winning, for example would never happen in the North American versions. I like that we get attached to favorites and the nail-biting suspense on eviction night of whether or not our BB forum mates agree/disagree with our hoped for winners etc. I think the US/CAN BB format is quite dull. I hate the "Head of House" thing especially.

It's not as good as Survivor.

Actually, I think Survivor was the very first "reality" show. It really is a phenomenal production. Every series it seems to out do the previous one. Something like 22 seasons have been produced so far, I think(?)

Anyway, yeah I like that game format but it's very different from the BB format

It's still voting people out, but people don't take the easy way so much as on the US Big Brother, there's more genuine blindsides, people can rise to the top, no HoH means no sucking up to people.

Exactly. I hate the HoH on the North American BBs.

I think it should be a bit of both but we the public decide who leaves unless they have twist. I bit like bb15 we have a head of house and then you have to do tasks. And it's vote to save and they can talk about nominations. And power of veto as well

I think the UK Survivor did get cancelled. It didn't seem to catch on. But the American Survivor is still being produced. The most current season ended in April; it starts again I think some time in late September. The American Hulu has all the previous seasons of the American Survivor available but other than that I'm not sure. Maybe YouTube has episodes.

Cheers guys ...Thought I'd totally lost the plot then when I heard it had been on for 20years. Long time ago but think a girl won the last one I watched.........remember them standing on logs in the sea for over 24 hrs ......

I do like the BBUS format, it's a lot more unpredictable but often it gets worse about week 5 or 6 and it's quite clear who holds the power. There is still the potential for shocks if someone from the "other" side gets the power though.

I don't think the format would really work here though, they'd have to get smarter people for starters :P Also imagine the outrage if a couple of fan favourites went early because they're crap at compeitions and got targetted, the public here would just moan moan moan. I know they do anyway but it'd be even worse! In the US it's been this way since series 2 there because our format didn't really work, so I guess they're used to it. The bad thing is some truly wretched racist, sexist, homphobic etc. people can do really well because the public can't vote them out. One of the series had a lot of the cast being racist or homphobic, I thnk the top 2 that year were both pretty badly racist during their time on the show!

I haven't watched the US version but it's good to read the comments here and see that it's pretty much devided on who likes it or not.

I think I'll give it a go now.
