Well, it isn't. It's a reality show

Just because there is a cash prize for the winner, doesn't make it a game show.
Deal or no deal isn't a quiz show but some people seem to think that it is.

The HMs can play a game, be sly, manipulative, lie, cheat, act dumb etc in order get their hands on the prize but that doesn't make it a game show.

It's as ridiculous as people saying up for nomination

It's a game show now.

Certainly didn't start out as one, but that is what it has become.

It's life Jim, but not as we know it

But it IS a gameshow.

It has a prize at the end. And the BB1 lot seemed to think it was too.

It's been a game show for years, it's no longer a social experiment.

It's only till now that someone is actually playing the game as it is meant to be played. Jason broke the taboo of playing the game and if there is any more Civilian BB after this series, there will be a lot more HMs who'll openly playing the game.

Grats Jason 👏👏👏👏👏

Maybe it is a game show now, but I still don't really think of if as that. Reason why I watch this every now again is to watch people interacting with each other and seeing the tasks.

and that's fine. However, the show as it started out is now gone, so with my utmost respect, I suggest you ditch the show, or accept it for what it is. ( I feel your pain btw)

As a die hard BB fan...who left the show after the repellent Josie and JJ show, I came back three years later and have had to accept it for what it is. I watch it through jaundiced eyes.

It ain't BB and that's for sure and I actually prefer this forum

I can't remember who it was from BB1 but they would sing "It's only a game show, I think Caroline ?

It's not completely gone, just evolved, and it is what ever you want it to be. I won't stop watching it as I still enjoy watching it every now again, first time I've gotten into a series since 2013.

If people say something for long enough and it get's into the public psyche, people will start believing it.

It's not a game show but most of you that have posted think it is which proves my point.

What are the rules for the game?

Having a gameplan can be a good and a bad thing.

If they took the prize fund away with the winner only getting a pat of the back, would it still be a gameshow ?

For me it has, and yet I still watch in the hope it will even , ever so slightly, revert to type.

Apart from putting people in a house in Borehmwood and calling it bb, it really is exponentially different.

p.s. which is why I ADORED what Jason did on the Lateysha (sic) eviction..old days strategy..

Made it more palatable to me anyway

To me it is now a game show. The days of the original concept are long gone and I find I can now enjoy it more thinking of it as a game rather than a social experiment. What difference does it make anyhow how people view it? It isn't really that important in the scheme of things.

It's a competition/popularity contest. Therefore could be argued a 'game'.

it is a game show.

the cast may well be chosen from "acting" backgrounds... in this years case mostly from the failed pilot shows of "towie" type copies.... and they may well be "in character" a lot of the time...

but just like "pointless celebrities" it is still a game show... and they are living in that environment 24/7 for weeks... the fact their backgrounds are not "off the street random" is irrelevant to it being a "game show"

It's Always been a game show,.
The first BB was described as a game show in the publicity.

Really? How come it was never mentioned thereafter

If it is a game show, it is the least fair one ever and the 'rules' make about as much sense as bamboozled from Friends

It was a reality show and still is to a certain extent but it's a show where they compete in games and there is an end cash prize so...... It's a game show albeit very different from your run of the mill gameshows

Well i posted a link. It's the end of Ultimate BB when we heard the voices on each series. All the housemates are singing 'it's only a gameshow'. Nick also wore that shirt on ultimate BB final.

These programs come under the category of 'competitive reality'. Those programs have been the modern kind of gameshow in this new century.

I think she /they chanted that as they were called to nominate because to them it was most definitely a popularity contest where not being yourself was frowned upon, so "game playing" was not really acceptable.
Chanting "it is only a game show" was just to lighten the nomination process and disguise the fact that some of them were not very popular with the others.

That doesn't matter if your "playing the game" now as you have probably adopted a fake personna, and it is that personna that is not popular, not the real person.

In those days it was the real person being voted as being unpopular, which is hard to hide from, and made the real BB so interesting compared to this present incarnation.

it's various things , but there's certainly a game show element , hence the prize and the need to avoid eviction .

That is 'The Game', it is for the contestants to gauge their fellow housemates, those that have been ejected by the public, eviction night' boos' and 'cheers'......

The last man/woman standing wins, prize money/fame aside, they are still the winner....
