Marks and Gran said on The Media Show that they're ready to bring it back as a series. They sounded keen and after letting Birds Of A Feather go to ITV the BBC might be keen too.
Which sitcom will go to series? Looking at some AI scores Porridge might be more likely. These are a few for Sunday and people loved Victoria. Antiques Roadshow 84 Are You Being Served? 69 Porridge 75 The X Factor 79 Victoria 87 Robot Wars 83 Dragons' Den 83 Big Fat Quiz of Everything 81 Sorry could not resist returning to my old hobby horse. Though it is true that they seem not to be very influential given that example. I agree that it will go to the BBC if they want an AYBS? series. No question. I was simply arguing it might even go to ITV if the BBC do not bother and if it can be negotiated. Benidorm must be on its last legs so with Derren Litten writing it ITV might see mileage if the BBC pass. As for Goodnight Sweetheart - they have always wanted to bring it back and have been planning a touring musical almost since it finished. Probably why it was easy to get a new episode on air fast. The fact that the cast all wanted to return after 17 years is a plus. And the set up for this episode really could not be better.

Not surprised by the AYBS? AI figure. It was always going to divide an audience as it is not remotely a 21st century show and so will not be to the taste of many people under 35. And to those over 35 it will always pale against the original.
I still think we will not see a series of these things without a Christmas special first - just to ensure that there really is an audience and not just the curiosity factor for these one off returns. Possibly they will work better in small doses, too. Grace Brothers at Christmas 1988 can be funny. Grace Brothers 1988 over 6 normal episodes might be more of a stretch. |

That is very interesting data, thanks for sharing. Is there a public place AI scores are accessible?

Though it was interesting seeing clips from a show I never knew existed - Are You Being Served Australia! Though I never found out if instead of a pussy Mrs Slocombe had a wombat. Or, a bush baby, perhaps. |

The producer of Victoria has said that it is "consolidating like a rat up a drainpipe" on Twitter. Looking forward to seeing what it ends up with.

I really hope we can see a 7m+ overnight from Cold Feet. I find this could be anything from 6m-9m. How much interest is their in Cold Feet? Is there enough to push it over 7m? Certainly its not facing anything on BBC1 to affect its overnight.

(Sorry. Not Sorry.) Victoria didn't fall by much, I can see it holding up well. |

http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/lat...he-miniaturist Interesting, hope they don't waste this in a summer timeslot like they did with The Living and the Dead. Ghost stories work best in the winter, Remember Me proved that! Quote:
BBC One has commissioned a three-part adaptation of Jessie Burton’s The Miniaturist. Produced by The Forge, the adaptation will be written by John Brownlow (Fleming, Sylvia). A haunting period thriller, The Miniaturist tells the story of a house where, beneath the lavish beauty and privilege, lies forbidden passions and dangerous secrets.
Looks like Tom Rob Smith was telling the truth when he said there'd be no more London Spy, but BBC 2 clearly want to be in business with him:http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/lat...otherfatherson Quote:
BBC Two has commissioned MotherFatherSon, a brand-new eight-part drama series from best-selling author and screenwriter Tom Rob Smith (Child 44, The Farm, London Spy).
A political and psychological thriller, MotherFatherSon sits at the intersections of police, politics and the press, as much a family saga as it is a savage, unflinching study of power and how even the mightiest of empires can be in peril when a family turns on each other. |

Is there a massive anticipation for Cold Feet? I haven't heard anyone at all talk about it. I think you are over-egging the ratings. It will be around 5.2m.

I wouldn't underestimate the nostalgia factor. Cold Feet was a sensation when it was on because the people in it were the same ages as the audience and it accurately reflected their lives, I think a lot of people will return to it because to a lot of people, they're like old friends.

Goodnight Sweetheart is anticipated. I've heard lots of people talk about it. But even that will struggle to get above 5.5 million I should think. Cold Feet also came from the era where ITV dominated the drama stakes and the ratings. There was little interest on the other side at the time. Things have changed since then. Of course, I might be wrong. It might be a whopping success, and fair do's if it is. It will prove I know absolutely nothing. But, I do urge people not to have expectations that are high. That's where disappointment comes from. |

We'll see. The trouble is the cast have moved on or disappeared. The population have moved on too. Old friends? That's pushing it a bit. I doubt most people have given them much thought since it "ended forever" around 16 years ago. I know I'm being somewhat cynical and negative, but how many viewers now who didn't watch Cold Feet will watch it? Things have moved on. Some shows can be brought back, like Birds of a Feather - but that's partly because people like sitcoms and there are relative few of them out there, but some shows might be be proceeded by the word "why?" by the viewer.

I do think you're being a bit negative there. Just because you don't know anyone talking about it, it doesn't make that representative. If you know anyone of that age, you'll know they're talking about it. My mates aren't, but the people I work with are buzzing about it coming back. Don't forget nearly 60% of the TV viewing audience is over 40, so that could work in its favour as the people who were in their 20s and 30s when it was on will now be approaching 50 like the characters
