Smells strategic story leak to me
I expect Lygo wants 10pm free whenever he wants but will air News st 10 when nothing else to show. We will see more new shows slowly but surely. Essentially the 10pm bulletin time will not be fixed on ITV from now on and increasingly be moved out of the slot through 2017 into 2018 as new commissions arrive. |

ITV denies it's moving News at Ten – but is 'relaxed' about occasional switches
New director of television Kevin Lygo has no plans to permanently move bulletin, say sources https://www.theguardian.com/media/20...ten-kevin-lygo As another post said, they need to work the other way by looking at reducing the soaps and try better than simply moving News at Ten. |

The idea of a nightly chat show isn't a bad one. However, we already have The One Show and chances are the guests on ITV's nightly one would very often be the same as the ones on the One Show! You could have a daily satirical show that looks at the days events and features guests, music and a "Spitting Image" segment each night.

To be fair, the Broadcast article never mentioned about moving the 10pm news permanently but inferred it would be more on an adhoc basis.
So Lygo's denial of moving it permanently is suspiciously specific. It sounds to me like he has plans to just move the news on one night of the week to half 10, and I'd wager it'd be either Tuesday or Friday. By saying "we have no plans to move it permanently" he's not really lying, because they don't, it'd only be one night. |

You do wonder where Broadcast got their original story from. I mean, we're not talking Daily Star here and they must have some good sources. I wonder if there was talk but they seem to have decided not to.
As you say Broadcast isn't the Daily Star, the fact that Broadcast directly attributed the move to Lygo and not " unnamed shadowy bosses" means a lot imo. I suspect the source is the man himself |

Fantastic for Bake-Off. Its The X Factor of 2016.
According to Broadcast the opening ep of GBBO has consolidated to over 14m. Incredible. Truly incredible. But I find it hard to imagine more viewers watching the final than last year. Who would still be new to Bake-Off despite it being on, what seven series? All Star Mr & Mrs did annoyingly well. I had hoped for a low 2m, but seemingly not. DCI Banks did averagely. 4.2m is not bad, but its not good. Escpecially when there are 10m+ watching Bake-Off. Nadiya is clearly like most winners of these talent series not really that popular. The only known talent show winner to have had much ratings success is Susan Boyle. |

I am getting fed up with the attention Nadiya is getting. Why the focus on her? No other Bake-Off winner received the OTT attention she got. It is making me wonder whether the BBC ordered her to be the winner just so they can have a new Asian presenter on their books. Cynical old git that I am!

But 3.7m out of 10m+ is not really that good is it!? Nadiya does seem to be everywhere though. I suspect next week Our Girl (which I must say I don't find I am looking forwad to at all unlike last year with Doctor F) will pull in 5m+. I can't se it catching on like DF, but will hold 5m+ given the enourmous lead in. |

If you read GBBO thread on here. Still new viewers being attracted in. It's just become must see tv as (nearly) everybody else is watching. Well apart from my Dad who will have been watching Sky Sports!

I'm sure you're right. Now, let's see if SCD overruns on Saturday to create a clash with X Factor.....
Not that TXF isn't weak enough. |

The figure is probably spun to be the peak consolidated audience, whilst also adding in iPlayer & repeat viewings.
Quote:
Overnights however are not the viewing figures that appear on our website. These are consolidated ratings and include catch-up, or time-shifted, viewing that happened up to seven days after the original broadcast. The consolidated ratings are the BARB gold standard on which the UK broadcasting and advertising industries rely for all reporting and trading.

What is the difference between live and consolidated BARB data? http://www.barb.co.uk/about-us/frequ...ked-questions/
Live data reports viewing that takes place at the time of the original broadcast. Consolidated data incorporates playback of time-shifted content within 7 days of the original broadcast. This timeshift viewing is added to the live data to produce consolidated viewing data made available 8 days after the original transmission date. Consolidated data is the BARB Gold Standard used by the industry to report and trade on. Since July 2013 BARB has made available time-shifted viewing up to 28 days after the original transmission. It can be added to the live data. This viewing is not included in the BARB Gold Standard Calculations. |

Any idea how Victoria is consolidating? We usually gets updates on DW, so is it possible to get a Victoria update from the same source?

The consolidated figures come from BARB who additionally would have nothing to gain by adding an "spin":

Except BARB haven't given any numbers. Broadcast made the bold statement, and they could easily have combined the parts of the BARB data to produce such a dramatic article. It's all about getting maximum clicks.
ETA But surely last week's consolidated figures should be available from BARB by now? |
