There were 2 episodes on the 7th January, so 4 extras in total.
It's been the same at EE for years. They always air 11 episodes over the Christmas / New Year fortnight and since DTC took over in 2013 they have the extra episode in the first week of January. The difference is the extra Emmerdale episodes are aired specifically to clash with and harm the rival.

Well despite that complaining the BBC didn't stop or reduce those overlaps, in fact once they smelt blood they probably increased them, so why should ITV now care about Emmerdale clashing with 25% of EastEnders for a couple of weeks.

Can't have it both ways.
Think of the viewers. Won't somebody PLEASE think of the viewers!

I enjoyed Robot Wars a lot more than expected. It wasn't just nostalgia, it was genuine enjoyment. I think it will do well across the series.

What do we think BBC ONE will play on Sunday nights at 9pm in early 2017?
How many episodes is Sherlock?

Decent enough start, although I thought it might do more.

Dragons' Den managed 2.86m / 14.4% at 9pm.

I'd agree with that. It's fine but I expected more and it could drop yet.

Cracking start for Dragons Den though. A few years ago it looked on its last legs but it looks as strong as ever there. The last series did well too. The new graphics at the start were hilarious, the most ridiculous yet.

There are three Sherlocks (currently shooting). Radio Times thinks the first will be on New Year's Day 2017.

Good for BBC1 and BBC2. Great to see Dragons Den back up and Robot Wars did decently. Great night for C5, looking like 1.5m, 1.2m and 1m...brilliant for "Puppies", people love that stuff. I thought the premiere of Mitty would be well into the 1m excl +1. Not a fantastic night for C4.

Great rating for C5 at 8pm there. I've noticed these clip shows tend to capitalise massively if the other main channels are targetting male viewers more aggressively than usual.

And of course, with Robot Wars on BBC2 and Bond on ITV, there was a particularly "blokey" look to things at 8pm, so good scheduling by C5.

BBC1's #TheSecretAgent lost out to 007 on ITV and #dragonsden on BBC2 in the 9pm slot, drawing 2.7m/13.6% for Ep2 overnights.tv

Ouch! Another drama flop on BBC1, they've had a few lately! Looks like Bond did better than last week.

I think people are tired of all these period dramas.

ITV will be hoping that people aren't tiring of them, with Victoria coming up in September.

Weren't they just!

Apart from that, what else was new? I noticed some new background music. And of course, the Reaction Room, a somewhat sadistic addition where those connected with a business pitching but not involved in the pitch itself can watch on as their partner or in last night's case father is ripped apart by the Dragons.

I think also they ditched a few of the filler bits between longer pitches, which felt a plus as it flowed better. Apart from that, it was very much business as usual and nothing we hadn't seen before. Nick Jenkins as obnoxious as ever. Peter and Deborah increasingly predictable in what they are going to say.

But look, it works. You can't knock the numbers. I'm not sure it's especially deserving of its huge numbers at this point, and anyone who thinks there isn't a certain amount of fakery going on is deluded, but I don't really resent its success. It's just not a show I consider as unmissable as quite a few viewers, rather something I might watch if nothing else is on.

Capped another highly forgettable Sunday for ITV.

The Chase Celebrity Special (R): 1.73m / 9.5%
I Am Legend: 570,000 / 5.5%

numbers exclude HD and +1

Much better than Casino Royale then.

Big drop from last week on The Secret Agent, maybe because of stronger competition on BBC2.
