Excellent BOAF series 3 was superb. The best series on ITV as yet.

Pleased for POG Dogs. I love this.

This Morning. I despair.

The only query would be This Morning for best daytime as it should have been Doctors. And why is Bake Off classed as talent? It's reality.

But they have a talent?

Well, I'd describe it as more of a skill than a talent. I can knit a wicked jumper, but does that mean I'm talented?

All three are utterly abysmal. Emmerdale just has a large group of rabid fans at the moment. Once their chosen storyline ends, normal order will be restored.

And currently both are dire. Kate Oates tenure has started with some awful writing.

I'd say baking is a talent, to be fair!

This thread is approaching the gutter at rapid pace reading back so, as for last night, two shows can air against one another and pull in strong ratings. I wonder how they'll do when Channel 4 pop a drama in that slot? For people wondering about why The X Factor rates better on a Saturday... look at the Antiques Roadshow figure. And that's before Strictly returns to give it a near 10m (at worst) lead in. All the ITV show can hope for it to stabilise at the very least, something it did this week.

Dragons' Den is a very consistent performer on BBC Two and the very small changes haven't harmed it at all. Speed is also a well rating show for Channel 4 in a tough slot.

As for Cold Feet tonight? That's how you do a first show in a series. I think it may have worked even as a new drama, let alone a returning one.

As a longtime contributor to this thread, I must admit it has been rather negative recently. It makes it seem unnecessary to post because you never know how your post is going to be interpreted. We all like different things but the art is to learn to respect the differences between us. X-Factor is definetely on the up, at this moment in time. And, what's wrong with that? Poldark got beaten by Victoria, but Poldark didn't flop. It just seems that there are some mildly healthy ratings at the moment which is, frankly, most welcome.

The issue is a lot of posters on here seem to just want certain shows or channels to fail. It's a shame because as a broadcasting and ratings geek, I want every show to do well. Seriously, I was overjoyed when I saw two 5m+ dramas this morning. It just shows that when channels don't just roll over and provide a decent alternative, they can all be successful. I don't doubt National Treasure will do well as well, because it'll appeal to a different type of audience but will draw more people into watching TV on the night.

I just don't get the mentality of wanting a show or channel to fail. What's the point? I disliked Channel 5's direction for years, but I'm so happy to see the tide changing for them. Even when Desmond owned them I was happy when they got a good rating for a new show.

The only time when I want a show to fail is when it's been placed deliberately against another in order to get the rival show to fail - like when X-Factor scheduled a Friday edition against SCD's first Friday show. It was a nasty trick because TXF never had a Friday show before whereas SCD always does.

w/c 15th Aug 0.18%

Now all they need to do is sort the name out. 5LATER was a better name.

I absolutely love it when Channel 5 comes higher than 5th. And that seems to be more often lately.

When Emmerdale wins it should be a rocket up the you know what for the other soaps to try harder Emmerdale wasn't just winning viewer voted awards last year, it was winning industry awards too. EastEnders has been roped for months and apparently the new producer's work will start to come through later in September. Let's see if it improves.

I do think that soaps are there for the taking. The right shoe can knock 2m off them regularly and perhaps even beat them regularly.

I have to disagree with you there. EastEnders has been really good under DTC. I'm not too keen on the new producer. He is, after all, 1 of the 2 men that killed Family Affairs. That's something I'll never forgive him (or Dan Chambers) for.

DTC ran out if ideas after live week, too many characters coming in with convoluted links to the past. Changing Den/Sharon's back story so that Gavin was responsible for hello princess. If he'd left after live week his stock would be higher.

Rubbish. I've given up it was so bad. Up to live week it was improved but it fell off a cliff. DTC has damaged the basics of the show by rewriting history and irrevocably damaging the remaining original family.

EastEnders is going through another era of mediocrity. But it hasnt been all bad. Not sure of Phil's storyline will be believable or realistic in the end, but compared to two or three years ago, I would say its in a good shape overall.
