You Say positivity on XF, I would re direct you back to the XF forum where you occasionally post, there you will see threads and posts, ( plural) saying that Saturday's show was the worst ever, and many posts they are switching off.

Before Saturday I posted here and called it right, post 8.15 pm, to 9.10 BBC1 was weak, it handed viewers in a plate to ITV, but still a few million didn't turn on XF.

If XF did capitalise on the weak BBC1 at 8.15 then there is something seriously wrong.

XF is not the powerhouse it was, and your strong posts to support it everywhere are noted. You do not need to call others who have different views, names.

They are entitled to their views.

XF is weak the chsnges haven't worked, Aldo the contestants are breaking the embargoes we know results from judges houses already, and one has already slammed about a fix being encouraged to get drunk and filmed for effect.

SCD and GBBO show there is a big audience out there for quality shows, basically XF is lagging well behind and cannot get back its former mojo.”

Sounds like you are upset then.

No surprise that the BBC shows you label quality.

Do you really think you are kidding people?

I hope that today on here, it is a nice friendly place again.

The insults towards other members and associated awkwardness is not conductive to having a pleasant chat about ratings and programmes, and general chit chat.

I have heard lots of positive comments about Cold Feet from last night. I hope that it does well, possibly around 6 million for ITV.

I think it will get more, it had no competition and had loads of promotion.

Out of interest, when was the last time ITV had a stronger launch to Autumn than BBC1? If you look at BBC1's September schedules, they look very weak, almost like Summer schedules, compared to ITV's. I think One of Us has been a scheduling error. It was too soon after the feel good Olympics.

Talking of which, with the Paralympics starting Wednesday, can we please have no "Paralympians are better than Olympians" comments? They are incomparable in many respects and both deserve equal praise and reward for their different events. In 2012 the Paralympians performed outstandingly, but the media went severely OTT and totally undermined the achievements of Team GB Olympians in the end. Can we not just congratulate and give credit due to anyone deserving without underming others?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Sean O'Connor did not 'kill Family Affairs'. Dan Chambers and Channel 5 did.

Channel 5 were happy to have O'Connor brought in by executive producer Paul Marquess - but O'Connor had barely got his feet under the table when C5 got cold feet about the whole show and decided to pull the plug on it. None of O'Connor's vision for FA had made the screen - C5's decision to axe FA was supposedly driven by a desire to commission other original drama … but history has shown that it has no real commitment to that. Even when it has a good idea, it abandons it (e.g. Murder Prevention - and i fear Suspects will soon be keeping it company).

I wouldn't have thought any of O'Connor's vision for EE will make the screen until nearer Xmas.

Cold Feet: 6.09m (29.0%) inc +1

5 Minute Breakdown:
21:00 - 6.41m (30.1%)
21:05 - 6.60m (30.7%)
21:10 - 6.20m (29.5%)
21:15 - 5.92m (28.1%)
21:20 - 6.13m (28.6%)
21:25 - 5.78m (27.7%)
21:30 - 6.32m (30.0%)
21:35 - 6.20m (29.2%)
21:40 - 5.73m (27.7%)
21:45 - 5.74m (28.2%)
21:50 - 6.09m (29.0%)
21:55 - 5.97m (28.5%)

I feel underwhelmed by that. But, word of mouth might help. The reaction has been incredibly positive and I have to agree. I had never seen it before, had no hopes at all, but I really enjoyed it.

Well, that is a good, not necessarily fantastic, but good, rating. ITV will be pleased with that.

BBC One does look a little weak right now. Their drama's are mis-firing and at the moment, September is looking a little threadbare (drama wise). Poldark seems to be the only highlight so far.

Perhaps the budget cuts are starting to show through.

That's a million less than I expected to be honest.

Cold Feet has been known to grow across its run so let's see where it ends up next week. I can imagine it being the sort of thing people will be raving about at work today, so good word of mouth could push it up.

It's a good audience for 2016 but I can't help but think it's slightly disappointing if the series stays at this level.

I do think that soaps are there for the taking. The right shoe can knock 2m off them regularly and perhaps even beat them regularly.”

I would argue that Emmerdale's current triumphs have been quite some time in the making.

The show proved that it could punch above its weight with the Aaron/Jackson assisted suicide story, the 40th anniversary live episode, Donna's death, the killer Cameron story and cottage in the woods/Declan's exit story, all of which helped win it cement its credibility and also garnered publicity.

So the accolades it's now getting haven't come from nowhere …

Considering the white flag that the BBC are waving over the next few weeks on a Monday, Cold Feet has a chance to grow across it's run, or at least remain stable. With most drama's timeshifting around 2 million, I think ITV will be foolish to not commission another series, if there was any doubting it of course.

Things really seem to be improving for ITV. The big shows are pulling the viewers in but there not sticking around for other shows yet but that could come in the future.

The BBC wave a white flag for ITV for on a Monday quite often. The only time I can think they havent was when Silent Witness was on a Monday night

Dramas need to be enticing and enjoyable. One of Us looked incredibly grim and macabre from the trails. I didn't want to watch it as life is depressing enough.

They have just two dramas on per week currently. All primetime programming is documentary or magazine style factual. Our Girl starts Wednesday which I will watch but I give BBC1 a wide berth most nights at the moment. Hopefully October will be better as if, like in 2013, ITV put all their eggs in an early Autumn basket, BBC1 could see a successful end to the year. But it seems that these days, January - March is BBC1's big period compared to Autumn.

Damn. I took a risk on the RPG (7.4m). I was thinking it would do a minimum of 6.5m and I fancied it to go over 7m, so that's certainly a shade disappointing especially when ITV appears to be firing on all cylinders at the moment.

The reaction has been overwhelmingly positive however so I expect it will hold up at this sort of level - still a huge hit and with consolidation on top who knows.

I just saw a trailer for it last night. It's a drama with Robbie Coltrane and Judy Walters, looks like it's based on Jimmy Saville/Rolf Harris type celebrity facing sexual assault allegations years later.

Thanks for that. Just one Question. Why would anyone want to watch that? Regardless as to who the cast are?

I wasn't sure about this scheduling beforehand and I'm even less convinced now. Should have left it where it was on Tuesdays.
