I think it would be incredibly stupid to ban drama and comedy from Tuesdays and Thursdays. Both channels have had success there in the past. If I were ITV, I'd be aiming to have a new show each night of the week in either drama or comedy at 9pm. Sticking cheap factual on at 9pm isn't a good idea unless it's something relevant or popular like the Investigator series or Long Lost Family. Putting Paul O'Grady on at 9 is going to allow the BBC to swoop in with a show that might become huge and claim that night as theirs.
Look at the state ITV is in now on Wednesdays at 8. The behemoth of Bake-Off up against All Star Mr and Mrs. If ITV had been smart, they'd have recognised the threat of Bake-Off two years ago and put something worthy of a fight up against it. But they rolled over and that, in combination with Doctor Foster last year allowed the BBC to dominate from 8-10 on a Wednesday. If Our Girl does well tonight after Bake-Off, I think it's safe to say it's a dead zone for ITV until Bake-Off starts losing some viewers.
