So bitter in fact that when Christmas Day fell on a weekend LWT refused to show the Morecambe and Wise Christmas Show from Thames and it had to run on a weekday.

That looks a bit disappointing for Our Girl given the lead-in. It seemed to get a lot of promotion too. Having said that it still won the slot so it looks like a poor result for DCI Banks.

Another stonking Bake Off number. I was perhaps a little surprised to see it below 10m but that's just because of how high we're used to seeing it - it's an amazing rating still.

That's low for Our Girl, but as it won the slot that means other channels we're disappointingly low too.

Thames and LWT used to argue over film premieres too. It was very petty between them.

Bake Off had a 45.1% share last week compared to its 44.7% share. Hardly any movement at all. A shame it didn't crack the magic 10.

Our Girl just isn't a natural fit with GBBO in the way Doctor Foster so obviously was. Plus it's another of those BBC One series that was recommissioned despite not really making that much of a splash first time round. Not surprised by that rating at all - but I suppose there's some consolation in it beating DCI Banks (surely the final series of that in any case?).

DCI Banks is certain for the axe. Stephen Tompkinson is good on Wild At Heart, but serious drama DCI Banks, he just doesn't work.

Pretty low for Our Girl. That's not likely to get a 3rd series, given its likely to drop a bit over the series. Shame. I'm not quite sure what's happening with BBC drama. The only recent drama over 5m has been Poldark.

An impressive rating for Can't Pay? We'll Take It Away at 9pm on Channel 5 against double drama. The Last Leg bombed and it's only a matter of time until The Great British Menu becomes an hour long 8pm show.

Since The Night Manager ended no BBC1 drama has held an audience of 6m across a series. ITV drama has been much better than BBC1 drama over the last few months.

Which dramas have BBC1 still to come later this year? I can't think of any?

Not likely. I suspect Poldark was earmarked for a Sunday September launch the minute DA was announced as ending. That is why the BBC announced the return of Poldark early.

Not surprised. The show was a success cause of Lacey's character - dropped 28% from Series 1 opener, 5.3m.

Keegan remains a poor actress and shouldn't have been the actress to replace Turner.

It's a problem, I agree, and a reflection of the exodus of people leaving the BBC, plus a lack of leadership all round. I also find it bizarre that a channel that can broadcast LTIH, CTM and DIP - different shows but very clearly aimed at mainstream audiences and successful - can then not apply the principle of popular drama to other commissions.

That has been a problem for several years now, but ITV's inability to get its act together for a long time meant that it wasn't so noticeable. But, inevitably, the pendulum was always going to swing back in ITV's favour at some point, and that's now happening. And with Piers Wenger apparently not joining until January 2017, I suspect things may deteriorate for BBC drama, rather than improve …

Prolly Hill worked with the indies at the BBC so helped get a few of those hits on. BBC1 drama has been strange this year, from brilliant at the start of the year to average now.

Piers Wenger was due to start in September. Has his start date been pushed back?

ITV drama has improved and it's down mainly to outgoing drama chief Steve November's commissions working. History will be kinder to him now when we look back at his tenure.

Of course. I don't think the former with do much ratings wise, but The MIssing should be a solid banker for the Tuesday slot.
