Monday
19:00 - Emmerdale
19:30 - Coronation Street
20:00 - Factual/entertainment
20:30 - Coronation Street
21:00 - Broadchurch (x8), Loch Ness (x6), Fearless (x6), Maigret (x1)
Good solid drama at 9pm. I'd like to see them play with the 8pm slot a bit more with maybe a couple of panel shows or new factual formats as well as the celeb led travel shows. Maigret seems to be deployed as one offs, so I'd have one here.
Tuesday
19:00 - Emmerdale
19:30 - Factual
20:00 - Sugar Free Farm (x4), Big Star's Little Star (x8), All Star Family Fortunes (x9)
21:00 - Lethal Weapon (x13), Killer Women with Piers Morgan (x2), Mafia Women with Trevor McDonald (x2), An Hour To Catch a Killer (x4)
Bringing over some entertainment shows into the 8pm hour that you'd think would do a little better than some of the factual. Giving Lethal Weapon a shot at 9pm as it could potentially be a cheap way of getting some reasonable rating extra drama into the schedule, with some strong factual in there too.
Wednesday
19:00 - Emmerdale
19:30 - Coronation Street
20:00 - Little Big Shots (x6), NTAs (x1), Brits (x1), Harry Hill's Alien Fun Capsule (x6), New Fact Ent (x7)
21:00 - Tina & Bobby (x3), NTAs (x1), Muncie (x3), Brits (x1), Grantchester (x6), Unforgotten (x6)
The cushiest 8pm slot of the week goes on new shows. More drama at 9pm, with the short run shows at the start of the year fitting around the award ceremonies.
Thursday
19:00 - Emmerdale
19:30 - Factual
20:00 - Midsomer Murders (x6), Tonight at the London Palladium (x8), New Ent (x7)
21:00 - Midsomer Murders (x6), Tennison (x6), Undercover Prisoner (x4), New Factual (x5)
BBC1 tends to have Death in Paradise at 9pm at the start of the year, so rather than throw a new drama against it like they did this year I've moved Midsomer across from Wednesdays. It wouldn't beat DIP but the hour's head start should mean it wouldn't come off too badly, plus with Midsomer they get so much repeat value out of it they can afford for the first screening to take a bit of a hit. Brought across Palladium from Wednesday to make sure something decent takes the Thursday slot for a while. In time I'd look to develop a new pre-watershed drama that could anchor the Thursday 8pm slot for at least a good chunk of the year (keeping cushier Wednesdays free for new stuff). A mix of drama and factual at 9pm, although there could potentially be scope for those 5 factual slots to be entertainment instead.
Friday
19:00 - Emmerdale
19:30 - Coronation Street
20:00 - Factual
20:30 - The Cruise (x6), Paul O'Grady's Dogs (x8), Birds of a Feather (x8) (30 minute Catchphrase if Birds isn't ready)
21:00 - Benidorm (x9), Safe House (x4), Innocent (x4), New Travelogue (x4)
A bit weak but with the sixth Corrie returning there in the Autumn it'd be a temporary problem. I've brought Love of Dogs forward from Q4 as I think it'd be more needed there. I know they've not officially announced Birds yet, I'm pretty sure it'll be back and if they film it in Jan/Feb it could be on air by around April. Or potentially they could shorten Catchphrase to 30 mins and run it there. Otherwise they could possibly look at some hour long stuff for 8pm instead. Some decent stuff at 9pm to keep the ship steady.
Saturday
18:00 - The Chase/Tipping Point
19:00 - Ninja Warrior (x8), Saturday Night Takeaway (x7), Dance Dance Dance (x6)
20:00 - The Voice (x14), Britain's Got Talent (x8)
21:00 - Through The Keyhole (x8), New Chatshow (x6), Take Me Out (x8),
Keeping the hit shows from last year in the same slots. Dance Dance Dance could run alongside BGT in the Spring, with Take Me Out after it as The Voice steals its usual slot. Once Takeaway returns and The Voice reaches the later stages The Voice would be at 8.30pm (with the chatshow at 10pm).
Sunday
19:00 - Emmerdale
19:30 - Coronation Street
20:00 - Endeavour (x4), Vera (x4), The Voice (x6), The Durrells (x6)
21:00 - Endeavour (x4), Vera (x4), The Halcyon (x8), The Good Karma Hospital (x6)
Keeping the crime dramas in that tough spot where they did well last year, with additional support from the soaps. I've put in a few Sunday shows for the later stages of The Voice as it might need more time than 90 mins on a Saturday (on the BBC they did 2hr Saturday shows, so throw in the ads and 2.5hrs across the weekend is probably about right). I like the pairing of The Durrells and The Good Karma Hospital (both set in sunnier locations) and think it could work.
