Its funny I don't remember watching it as a young kid, (1999 - 2010 when it finished). I do however remember the characters of Jack Meadows, Gina Gold, Mickey Webb, Phil Hunter, Sam Nixon, Smithy and loads of others when I watch the daily Drama Channel repeats so my family must have watched it. It would really fit well on Thursdays now.

I know they planned a few changes last year which then got scrapped at the last minute (I think the disaster of judges houses live spooked them). I don't think they should completely change them, but a few tweaks and a bit of a freshen up would definitely help. The panel works though which should put them in a better position than last year for when they go live.”

If there is to be any sustained improvement this year then the big test will be the long haul of Saturday performance shows. Its not just X Factor being tested -its the whole process of talent live elimination as a viewer draw, The Voice hasn't really ever had a successful live element and BGT has been faltering a touch with its live shows. Ten weeks is a long time to maintain interest with a such a repetitive process and they haven't been firing in recent years.

The Bill was at its best with DI Burnside. There was a Sweeney nature of it. Minder was like that too before George Cole stole the programme.

I'm astonished they haven't changed the format of the live shows. When you see which judge has which category it all seems so repetitive. They didn't change it up at all.

A simple change would have been to give each judge one act from each category. I'd like nights which are intimate and are more about singing (like American Idol).

Crucially though, they really need to sing less recent songs. A Michael Jackson night will appeal far more than hearing songs by Acme featuring DJ Whoopie. It may not be cool but X Factor should aim to be more Radio 2 than 1. There's a far larger potential audience.

As for 6 Chairs... That's just brilliant TV. Judges Houses should be cry factor with the pay off scenes where they return to tell their families.

The X Factor doesn't appeal to older demographics enough. This has been a general problem for itv. There's money to be made from over 50s too.

Tale of two news programmes. The first one losing 4 million of its lead in and the other second only to Coronation Street on its channel. I wonder if someone somewhere was looking at that and thinking "If I was in control Id....................."

Variety of schedules though showing just how strong the OFAH brand continued to be after its first final episode. The BBC ploughed on with it for several years on the main channel and it remained a serious draw.

The only point I would agree with you on is No. 4

One thing I find strange is that you think BBC One would win ratings simply because of no adverts. Does that mean people only watch programmes because depending if they have adverts or not?

I am currently writing a TV review for that terrible We Love Sitcom last night on BBC One, I am not royal to any broadcaster and will point out any rubbish.

One of the great examples of keeping faith after the first two series, what a fantastic tale those ratings tell.

It was series two episode three "A Losing Streak" that first got me hooked.

That was not a good blog entry, irrelevant of the TV show being discussed. You cannot force your own opinions onto people. Surely that's not how a blog works? In your entry, you tell people what is more pleasurable to watch, what is better viewing and what is more interesting. You forget one key thing: your opinion is NOT everybody's. It was also far too brief - if you are going to tell people to watch something else, actually explain WHY.

Based on that, I wouldn't read any further blog posts unfortunately.

Maybe a reminder, a poster asked for X Factor related comments to be posted in the X Factor forum, and stop unless pages, of " expected" comments from each camp.

Did you see X Factor mentioned AT ALL in my post? No, you didn't. I was talking about the blog post. It could have been about ANY show. My point about your anti-ITV agenda still stands.
