I disagree. A blog can be anything and if people don't like it then do what you will do and avoid future blog posts.

Anyway... Back on topic.....

Yes, but surely not in an arrogant, "only my opinion matters" way? It doesn't exactly get you many loyal readers.”

Well my TV review mentions about ratings and all that: http://wp.me/p7CZB3-2k

I notice that tabloid tittle tattle is suggesting IAC are following SCD and not using reality stars for the next series.
Good news for me as I have never heard of most of them.

I do hope this is true. IAC can do so much better than the trash CBB can get sometimes.

The ITV continuity announcer described X Factor as "Britain's biggest singing competition" when introducing it tonight.

It's true but a bit naughty given that they've got the other one now as well!

That's brilliant news. They can attract actual stars without resorting to reality dross.

And they pay lots of money. Adam Peaty wants to appear on it. I'm sure they'll be a gold medalist on.

Well The X Factor thread was quiet tonight - it reached 23 pages fot the show. I personally thought it was the worst one this season.

Not BGT then hey?

Wasn't a good one compared to last weekend. A bit cringeworthy at times especially the marriage proposal.

A far more crucial metric than Twitter, Facebook & YouTube. The producers will be panicking!

It was a simple comment. Why so hostile?

Some dirge going on at the proms (I think its Opera).

Not a singing competition. Although Calum Scott from last year is currently doing far better than anyone from The Voice ever has.

Speaking of BGT, they ran an advert for applications tonight and Ant & Dec did the voiceover so hopefully that puts to bed the rumour of them quitting.

X Factor was utterly bonkers tonight. Quite amusing but bonkers. But I think there's room for episodes like that across a 7 episode audition run. I think as long as they can strike a decent balance across the weekend (so a bit more talent tomorrow) then they're OK.

It might not be to everyones taste but you can't deny the insrumentalists and singers arn't talented.

Oh he is the one that murdered Dancing on my own right? But yeah. The Voice has had only Becky Hill achieve No1 success after the event.

I must be the minority but I enjoyed tonight's XF. I was howling with laughter at some of it, not the best, but not the worst by far this series (I think last Saturday's was the worst)

I certainly cant, but given this is the last night party so to speak, they could have gone for something a bit lighter.

Precisely, it was a decent and fun episode.

I am preparing for a low, relatively speaking, rating tomorrow though. Number of posts does seem to correspond with viewing figures.

No it doesn't.

Social media isn't a accurate metric really. CBB is one of the most-Tweeted about shows, moreso than Strictly Come Dancing, BGT etc. but has pathetic number of viewers.
Just don't see a niche forum, with opinions going against the majority on almost everything, being accurate. We shall see.

Whilst that is true about WDYTYA? it still pulls in respectable numbers and finds it much easier to recruit a good line up each year than many other shows.

Easy to see why. I do genealogy for nurses, taxi drivers etc for fun and they all love finding out. Plus you are not being asked to spend six months learning to dance or ice skate or sleep in the jungle to eat bugs. You are ferried to some surprise locations around the world on the BBCs account and someone digs up all sorts of stuff about your ancestors that you never knew.

It must be an easy sell. As indicated by celebs (such as Michael Parkinson) who were less than thrilled to be sounded out but never invited when their family turned out to be too mundane to build a story around.

This years group of celebs which I posted in here a couple of months ago is as strong as ever.

Spoiler

Danny Dyer, Amanda Holden, Ricky Tomlinson, Sir Ian McKellan. Sophie Raworth, Cheryl Whateverhernameisthisweek,Greg Davies, Liz Bonnin, Sunetra Sarker, Warwick Davies

Plus it has the thing that only a few programmes have - a sort of USP - in that - like Long Lost Family - it is virtually a new genre with little competition and a change from much of what else is on TV that can be very identikit.

I agree to an extent - some shows have a lot of posts but rate low. However, The X Factor does seem to follow a trajectory; the highest number of posts happened last Saturday and the show pulled in 8.3m viewers. Admittedly the number of posts may have been partly down to Bradley and Ottavio so I guess we'll see tomorrow!

Tonight's 7.50 lottery show will have had people switching off BBC One in droves. Three minutes were taken up with some bloke I've never heard of interviewing a woman about a silver medal.

X Factor was pretty good, but what was staged definitely stood out. Especially the "Friday Night" performance, the whole thing felt fake. You could even hear the fake chanting that was added on afterwards.

A shame they have gone down this route; this year would have worked just as well without setting things up.

Also, Sharon is VERY quiet. Where is the Sharon who kicked out by Simon for laughing too much with Louis and walked into a door? Gone by the looks of it.

Wasn't Sharon going through marriage problems whilst the auditions were taking place?
